Best SPS (scaphoid protection system) gloves with lean fit?

Post by RubberDogTurds »

Hi all,

I'm new to the boards and was hoping for some insight while buying gloves.

My last scooter was totaled by another driver in a car, and I luckily only walked away with a cuts, bruises and a broken scaphoid bone in my wrist. I am now to the point of recovery where I can drive a new scooter, but I would like some scaphoid protection to prevent a recurring injury.

All I've found so far are inserts within larger motorbike gloves or heavy leather gloves, and all very bulky and expensive. Can wrist wraps work, or are there any slimmer/leaner SPS gloves for city riding that I have just not come across?

Thanks,

Nikki

Check out these:
Alpinestars Stella SPS ($50):

Knox Oren gloves ($45):

Patented Knox SPS.

This is a slightly more protective model:

This is something frequently found on dirt/offroad riding gloves, and various wraps are available for that kind of riding. I don't know how they compare to street gloves with built-in protection, though.

They're relatively inexpensive, $20-$35.

Thanks! I went ahead and bought these since the others, which I had seen before, had me worried being in mens sizes or too bulky. These were new to me; much appreciated!

EDIT: I had to return the ones below because they did not have true SPS patented aspects to them. I am now ordering a pair of Knox Oren!
