HP on 50cc Buddy?

Louisiana law requires motorcycle licenses for all 5 HP and up scooters. Any idea on the HP of the 50 cc Genuine products? Can't seem to find this anywhere

Not sure. This is what the law says...

"To comply with this law, the operator of any motorcycle, motor driven cycle or motorized bicycle (moped), in excess of 5 horsepower, regardless of maximum speed, or size of motor, must have an "M" endorsement on one of the basic classes of operator's license to operate such ve hicle on the streets, highways, or roadways in Louisiana. This endorsement is not required to operate motorcycles, motor driven cycles or motorized bicycles under 5 horsepower."

IIRC some one said 4.9 HP @ 7,500 rpm not sure if that is RWHP.

Manufactures publish HP #'s @ the crank. (Looks more impressive that real rear wheel power)

Real HP is measured @ the rear wheel. drive trains generally speaking eat 15%+/-. Thats a big difference.

Example. My buell has a 92HP engine (measured @ the crank) but when you put it on a dyno it about 79HP.

I'm no layer but that law is vague.

PGO's Max HP figures (more than likely from the crank)

Buddy 50cc = 4.7

Buddy 125cc = 9.5

Buddy 150cc = 10.3

Buck-ten = 9.1

Blur = 13.6

Basically they're just trying to keep you at or under 50cc to not have a license. Same as many states..Louisiana's just using HP to be difficult.
