I moved from very Buddy friendly Atlanta to the Atlantic City area. I haven't seen a Buddy, or even many other scooters, around here. I don't know why because it's really an awesome place to have a scoot. The drive down Ocean Drive along the coast to Cape May is gorgeous. There are even some decent places to scooter camp. It's a fun place to scoot! I searched the forums but didn't really see anyone from this area so I thought I'd ask and maybe bring some people out of lurking I wanted to know if there were some other places to explore around here, the best roads... Speak up if you exist
You'd think the beach areas would be polluted with scooters and likely will once the summer season gets into full swing.
At last look at Genuine's dealer listings, I don't remember all that many dealers in New Jersey at all. I'm guessing it's all about brand availability.
Aging is mandatory, growing up is optional.
My kids call me 'crazy', I prefer 'Eccentric'.

Jersey is notorious for their unforgiving vehicle laws. Getting a scooter registered and licensed can be a lengthy process if your local MVC is unfamiliar with the make of vehicle.
Look up charlie55, he's from Jersey and seems quite knowledgeable with the ins and outs of the state.

always start with the simple, it may end up costing you little to nothing
This will be my second summer here so I've been on the lookout. I've seen maybe a small handful of distinct scooters in the area. That's not a lot in my opinion. I know it'll be a surprise to see a Genuine since the closest dealer is in Philly.
As for registering the scooter, I didn't have any issues. It took all of 15 minutes at the DMV. I had the right paperwork so badda bing, badda boom, I was outta there. Fuggedaboutit.

I think that the MVC has improved since I first tried to register my '06 Blur here. Main problem was that the MCO listed the manufacturer as PGO and/or Motive Power Industries and that was not an exact match to the MVC's approved list. It took a little arm-twisting to get them to make the logical connection.
BTW, in addition to Philly Scooters, there is an authorized Genuine shop here in NJ. They're located in Manasquan. Here's the website:
Well to be fair, I was transferring the registration from GA to NJ so I may have had an easier time. When I first registered it in GA, I had the "well is it a motorcycle or moped" conversation. Being a newbie, I kept saying scooter. A motor, no pedals but not a motorcycle...you know...a scooter...like they have in Italy? It took two visits to get it registered. It also didn't help that the insurance company got the VIN number wrong 3 times but that's a tale for another day. I now know what to have with me and what to say
Hey thanks for the link! My husband really wants to take a look at the Hooligan. I'm hoping the couple of places around me will have one soon. It's between that and the Zuma 125. I'm all for team Genuine but the Zuma is a nice machine. Can't wait to compare the two in person.
I just wanted to add a new development. Since I first posted, a motor sports store nearby just became a Genuine dealer! We went in and came home with a new Roughhouse 50!
Anyway, the people are great and well informed. It'll be nice to have a place close by with Genuine certified mechanics. http://www.seaville-suzuki.com
