I'm at about 250miles and I still watch taking it up to higher speeds. But what is too much and what speeds do you take it too.

There's lots of opinions here- I had the same question a month or so ago...
Here's the thread from my question- lots of great stuff in it.

I'm still breaking mine in. when I want to go for a ride I just say I need to break in the scoot.
I told my wife it would take 100,000 miles to break in.

Those speeds were what my dealer told me but I think it's more about throttle amount than specific speed.Jed wrote:no faster than 35-40 the first 200 miles, no faster than 45 until 1000 miles, then it's full throttle, but for short periods of time until you reach 4000 miles. never exceed 2000 miles per oil change. it's a precious engine, nurture and take care of it. peace.
The one thing everyone seems to agree on is don't stay at one constant speed for too long, be sure to vary the throttle a lot while breaking in.

Full break in....about 1000 miles.... or two oil changes, not that I did not stretch it out a bit from time to time during that period, but I work under the premis that I don't want to be the dunder head who ruined their brand new scooter...................JMO of course..........

Way to rack up the miles! If you feel up for a group ride, the Reflections Scooter Society has them every Friday night. I rarely go, but Mike or Tammy from NoHo sometimes show up and the other people there are cool and welcoming. Usually...Just_Jess wrote:I'm almost up to the first 1000 mile mark and I got my buddy about a month ago. I've ridden almost everyday since I got it since I don't own a car. I feel pretty confident on it now and even give friends rides.

Re: break-in. I've asked a lot of people about this. Best and most consistent advice: vary throttle/RPMs for first 500 miles. Don't go WOT (too much) in this period. There are actually practical, mechanical reasons for this. OTHERS say break-in is BS and they may be right, but it can't hurt.

thanks for all the good advise everyone!
It's hard to keep it under 40mph though! I commute on my scooter and most stretches of road, the traffic pushes you over 40. 1000 is a while away (at least while its still winter).... but the best advice i will take is just to vary the throttle.... I've never had it above 55mph, and that was only once or twice (just to feel it!).
