2012 Buddy 170i - 1350 miles - Oil change?

Post by JerseyShoreScootin »

Hey everyone. Brand new here and fairly new to the scootin scene. I dont really know anything about engines whether it be a car, scooter, lawn mower, etc. so I was curious to know about receommend oil changes on my 170i. I did the initial oil change when recommended but now im at roughly 1350 miles and was curious if this is when I should do my next. I was thinking about doing it myself (with the help from a friend). I saw it was mentioned that the Hiflofiltro HF183 Premium Oil Filter was the way to go. Is this a good one? http://www.amazon.com/Hiflofiltro-HF183 ... B000WJEXAM

Thank in advance.

I like to change the oil every 1200-1500 miles, and I change the filter every other oil change.

Hiflo Filtro is a well known brand, equal to or better than OEM quality. I bought 5 Hiflo Filtro HF167s for $15 for the Stella 4T and they look to be higher quality than the OEM sourced Luboil filters. The only issue with the HF183 is it uses the bizarre Piaggio tool to turn it, rather than a hex nut that a socket can turn like the OEM Genuine filters. But you can use a large flat bladed screwdriver to turn it, so it's all good.

I change around 2k miles. I use the OEM filter because of the hex head. And I always change the filter with each oil change. Doing otherwise makes no sense to me. Cleaner is better.
