what's the next special edition?

Post by arnette »

As we're entering scooter season, should we be expecting a new special edition Buddy?

I liked the Riot from 2014 but missed out on getting one (and now can't find it locally). Wondering what the next will be!

What I've found so far:

Buddy Fireball
Spring 2005
The Atomic Fireball Stella features a racing-style seat, yellow powdercoated rims, red powdercoated hubs, custom flame graphics, "raised" gearing for higher top speeds, Fireball mudflap, new grips, a coin tray, and more

Buddy Blackjack
Summer 2009
the BlackJack has a solo seat, a NCY billet racing fork, NCY adjustable pre-load and dampening rear shock, a NCY big front disc brake with dual piston caliper

Buddy Psycho
December 2011. Model Year: 2012.

Buddy Lemonhead
July 2012 (of 2013 model)
The Lemonhead is a limited edition of 200 units, each with it's own number plate. Other modifications include a "Pucker Power" Lemonhead speedometer, a bright yellow custom seat, a Blue Buddy logo, and a combination of whitewall tires and yellow-painted rims. A bonus is included in the form of a very cool Lemonhead lunch box, filled with a type of candy that one will immediately recognize. At an MSRP of $2199, the Lemonhead hits a "sweet spot" in the Buddy line-up.

Buddy Riot
2014
Genuine’s newest scooter, the Limited Edition Buddy Riot, is built for performance and created for fun! Sport-ready from the factory, the Buddy Riot, in both 50cc and 125cc models, is built with upgrades that include:
-Sport Tuned Suspensions: upgraded front fork springs on the 125 and an adjustable rear sport shock on both models
-Upgraded Front Disc Brakes: custom front wave rotor, high performance braided steel front brake lines and a red sport caliper
-A Blackout Kit: wheels, bezels and rear grab rail
-Sport Brake Levers and Hand Grips
-Custom Sport Mirrors
-Low Profile Seat
-Limited Edition Matte Platinum Metallic Bodywork

I was going to suggest trying to find one on the floor. The limited edition models are always cool and well worth the added $$$. There was a Stella GB150, the new titanium RH50, what others can't I remember?

I expect Genuine to produce many more special editions based on the Buddy 170i. I'd love to see a new 170cc Blackjack.

I'm really hoping this becomes true. They already have the matte black! Just needs a few extra goodies.

I suppose I could get a 170i and change out components but the special editions seem to be a better bargain (not to mention the cool factor).

I'm interested in a riot but our local dealer hasn't had one.

Hey, fellow SF!

I saw a Blackjack on Craigslist last week, but it was dented up and had a lot of miles on her. I wasn't in the market last fall when the Riots came out. I'm assuming they went quick (particularly in a scooter town like ours).

However our local shop certainly has a big stock of 125 Buddys they're trying to unload.

I'm just gonna sit here and daydream about a 250cc 2t Stella with a 5 speed and 12" wheels...
"Stella" is Latin for "use threadlocker on all fasteners"

Since Genuine is reportedly discontinuing the 220cc air cooled Blur, why not stuff the engine in a Stella and call it a Bella 220?
