another oil question

Post by luckyscroller788 »

Just curious here. On both my wifes buddy, and my Roughie, theres an oil light. Is this light designed like on automobiles, where when the light comes on, its usually to late, and you've done damage to the motor, or on these little 2 strokers, is that light supposed to come on saying your running low on oil and you should add some soon? I always just add oil every other gas fillup or so, and my light hasn't come on yet, just been curious about exactly how that light is supposed to work.

You shouldn't rely on the light, but yeah you still have a little bit left when the light comes on.

With a 2-Stroke bike I consider the light to be the 'Add some Oil to the Tank' light, It comes on when the level is low not when it's out.

No damage should be done to the bike as long as you put oil in when the light comes on.
