Oopsclunkthud Thread - Apologies

Post by jrsjr »

In a word - Mea Culpa..

It's been brought to my attention that the entire oopsclunkthud thread was the result of multiple miscommunications and misunderstandings that snowballed into a problem when I forgot to do my "moderation" thing. Instead I misread the situation and lost my temper. No excuses. That was not my job. Epic Fail on my part.

For anyone who didn't read the original thread (lucky you!), what looked like a simple situation actually involved five, count 'em, five, parties and there were miscommunications and misunderstanding between almost all of them, including me.

Be that as it may, there are no excuses on my part. Mea Culpa. Period.

I hope my apologies will be accepted by Mopedlar and everyone else I offended when I lost my temper.

We return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

I certainly agree that we all need to do our best to avoid personal criticism or attacks on other Forum members. And, if we think we have crossed that line, an apology or acknowledgement is definitely appropriate and welcome. We are all best served when we just stick to facts, i.e. what we have experienced or know to be true. Having said that, it is not obvious to me that there has actually been closure on this episode. It was clear to me from the start that there was no money to be lost here - I understand how PayPal and eBay function. At worst we were talking about frustration and inconvenience. So, this could end with either the order cancelled and payment returned or with the item delivered. Which was it? Seems like it is not fair to oopsclunkthud to just leave that hanging in the air on a public website.

Great. Glad to hear that. That puts the whole thing to bed in my opinion.

Agreed. As I said, it was one great big misunderstanding from top to bottom. If I hadn't lost my temper, it would have just gone away. That's why I issued public apologies.
