Sometimes you just have to walk away

Post by jrstone »

Really bummed right now. I've wanted a 2t Stella so bad for a while. Went to look at one today that looked like a good deal, with cash in my pocket. Meh... Needs too much work. Tires are done, gearbox leaking oil, cosmetically was only about a 6-7/10. As much as my heart wanted to ride away on it, my head said to pass.

I know at this point it's a long shot to find a 2t in good shape locally, but I'm not looking for a project. A Stella is always going to need more love than either of my current scooters, but since I'd have to sell one to make room, I have a hard time buying one that already needs work when mine are perfect mechanically. Anyway... Just sad. Left the house earlier thinking I'd come home with a new bike.

Good things come to those who wait! I feel you 100% on not wanting a project when you really want a turn key rider. You made the right choice. I use to feel like I had to rescue them all, now I just leave projects for someone else.

Skip the Stella and go ahead and get an actual P-Series. Pricing is surprisingly similar, the wiring is much simpler... and they aren't Indian.

Getting rid of my Stella 2t and getting a P200 has been wonderful. It's 37yrs old and all of the electrical bits work. Couldn't say the same for my Stella!

There is a good Stella or P out there, just keep on the look out. The clean ones do pop up.
Same as the Stellas, some P's are nice and some are abused roaches that I wouldn't give $500 for. Keep looking, good luck.
Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?
