CDI FOR MY 2 STROKE BUDDY 50

Post by rlovedahl1 »

I have absolutely no clue as to where the CDI box is located on my scooter. All I see is the relay, and the electric motor underneath the flywheel assembly. Please help!

Firstly, here's a link to the service manual.

Looking at page 92, it shows a picture with the front cowl off. The CDI looks to be the 1.25" x 2.25" box in near the steering column with a rubber strap around it. The stuff you see behind the flywheel is the stator and trigger (pulser) coil.

So this begs the question: why are you needing to get to the CDI? No spark?

Haha! Yes, an addiction. Just a side toy that I've been tinkering around with for some time now. I have no spark. It was running, but then my belt shredded up, so I replaced the entire transmission kit, then it never started up again. I've replaced the coil wire for the spark plug, and cleaned the stator. Didn't see any kinks in the ground either. This AC CDI came with the package, and I feel like I should try it, but I just can't find it.

Aside from replacing the CDI, have you checked the kill switch to make sure it's still functional? Barring those parts maybe your stator or pulser coil died.
