Leather Roll Bag for Buddy Internatioanl 150?

Post by murrellington »

I was originally looking at the Prima roll bags. I've read up on them and seems they fade quick and sag unless you put support underneath. Are there any good looking bags that are leather (or possibly canvas) that are better quality and similar style? I see some Piaggio and other bags made for Vespas but not sure if they fit the Buddy Racks.

Regarding the Prima Bags, does anyone have them and think they are fine? I'm assuming you have a rack under it for support?

some folks here have them for years, they fit fine.

We've trashed our rear racks so bad that the threads in teh frame have stripped, so I'm not sold on keeping things back there full time.

These and similar come in all kinds of sizes:

Like any roll bag, canvas or leather or a rigid top case, they do require a mounting surface. Call that a rack if you will. The Prima roll bags have little belts under them that snug the bag down nice and tight to the rack.

I've had 3 of them. A large and small one on a Buddy 170i and a large one on a Black Jack. The small one on the Buddy was mounted to its folding front rack. I never had a problem with them like sagging or fading. The build quality is excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again if the opportunity presented itself.

I do have a rear rack on my buddy. But I've seen pictures of the large prima bag sagging off the edges. So people put a cooling baking rack between the back and the buddy rack to support it. Is this a necessity?

It may not have been a Prima bag. Mine had rigid bottoms which would have caused sagging only if they were excessively weighed down at each end. My experience was that they were basically bullet-proof. They even held up well in Seattle's rainy weather. Since they're not inexpensive it's possible that someone's building cheap knock-offs, scrimping on build quality hence the sagging.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll swing by the Vespa dealer today who has these and probably pick one up.
