Coronado Crazy-Sat. April 5th

Post by pcbikedude »

When
Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM

Where
Kensington Coffee Co.
4141 Adams Ave
San Diego , CA 92116

Details
Anyone for going over the bridge? A mostly scenic route starting from Kensington and rumbling through North Park (past our favorite scooter shop), Balboa Park, Downtown, and across the Coronado Bay Bridge. Our first stop is the first exit off the bridge at Tidelands Park to let people catch up.

We will drive the locals crazy by riding through their neighborhoods to get to the Silver Strand. The Strand will provide some spectacular views of the Pacific. On our way back, we'll pass through Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and follow Harbor Drive to Little Italy.

The scenery only changes for the lead scooterist.

Year-round riding season. Isn't it great? I'll post some pictures after the ride.

Believe it or not, there are lots of people here in town afraid to cross the bridge in a cage or scooter. I'm very acrophobic but the bridge is no problem for me. In fact, a few scooterist here in town have emailed me to encourage me to take the long way (Silverstrand) because they want to ride but are afraid of the bridge (2.4miles long, 220ft tall at 45-50mph).

I can see how a bridge would be scary to ride on based off the cross wind. I can't see the height being a problem though.
