Vespa LX50 vs. Buddy 50CC

I was planning on buying a Buddy 50CC when I go to AZ next fall. (I go there for a couple of months in the winter.) I'm back in the midwest now and see a new '06 Vespa LX50 for sale. A woman won this at work - but doesn't want it. She wants $2,500. This seems high to me. Scooters are not popular here because it is so hilly. (Probably why the dealer still had an '06 Vespa.) What do you think I should offer her? How hard would it be to get the scooter to AZ in the fall? Is a Buddy better than the Vespa?Thanks for the help - I need it.

It's a good deal on the LX50, even tho it's an '06 it doesn't really matter much if it's new. That's about $600 off what it should cost for the scoot. If you could talk her down to $2000, I'd say go for it! The Buddy is very good, I don't know about "better"... The plastic panels make it easier (& cheaper) to fix, also I think it will be cheaper for any work you have done on it just about. Bud50's cost about $2000 new for an '08, so if you're worried about "age," the Bud is less money for a newer scoot.

Vespa does have the quality, looks, and reputation going for it... but then again so does Genuine. Well, at least their rep SO FAR is very promising. You should have a test-ride (or at least sit on both of them), to see which fits you best. The Buddy will probably be a bit zippy-er because it's lighter. That is a good deal on the LX like I said, if you like it, how likely are you to come across another chance like that? I guess if your area is really hilly, you might want a 125cc, but is that an option for you?

If the buddy being the zippiest scooter there is, but still being slow as heck on hills with a 50cc engine, a vespa which is all metal, will go even even slower.

For 300 more dollars, you could buy a buddy 125 brand new and tackle the hills no problem.

I can vouch for my BUD125's hill-climbing abilities!!! Well, there aren't many 'hills' here but we have a lot of BRIDGES (and some pretty steep overpasses)!

I can go 55 NO PROB! However, I weigh about 145, so I bet it makes a little difference if you are heavier/lighter. 125 is definitely worth the extra cash in my opinion.
