New buddy owner

Post by kuruku »

Hello all, I just wanted to drop in a note as a new member. I picked up my Buddy 50 not an hour ago and am already in love.

I'm sure its covered all over, but is there any general advice one might give for a new rider?

Thanks and I'm looking forward to being a member of this forum.

Congratulations on your new Buddy & Welcome to Modern Buddy! There's a "sticky" thread up at the top of the forum called, "For New Members/Owners." That thread contains pointers to lots of info you might want to look at. Specifically for the 50cc Buddy, you might want to read about de-restricting your scooter, if that hasn't been done already. In general we like to suggest that folks think about wearing basic riding gear (at least) and if you are a new rider we like to suggest that you take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) or other equivalent riding course to quickly get your riding skills up to speed.

What year and color is your scooter? There is a forum here where we encourage folks to post photos of their scooters. Please feel free to post pix there.

Again, welcome to Modern Buddy!

It would have been a much larger span of time... but it started to rain/snow shortly after I got it =(

Gotta love Colorado weather

I have the '08 orange buddy and has already been de-restricted ^^. I've also flipped through the sticky posts and I'll be digging around for a pic of myself (or just use photobooth get one, Mac's for the win!). Mostly I wanted to say hi but thought to ask for advise is never a bad thing, ne?

As for gear, I've already got a 3/4 helmet with visor, a good set of boots and gloves. I'll be picking up the armored jacket tomorrow (would have been today, but they didn't have one in my size at the dealership). Just in time for a good long ride this weekend.

Have you taken the MSF? They teach you life saving skills and basic riding skills that even the most experienced riders dont know.
