Front wheel noise

Post by Thadsgood »

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for this: I keep hearing a clicking/chirping type noise seems like from the front wheel. It clicks faster as the wheel goes faster. It doesn't do it all the time, but it does do it pretty much every time I ride. I had a scooter shop person take off the cable in the front, I guess it counts the revolutions of the wheel, she thought it might need to have some silicon type lube and retightened. It didn't really help, the sound returned soon after. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

check your brake disc
I don't do much modding on the scoot anymore, just riding :-)

Yup, does the sound change or stop when you brake? How about if you brake hard vs. soft?

braking

Now that you mention it, I don't recall hearing the sound when I brake, however, it makes the sound before and after braking. I'll have the scooter shop check the brake disk. Anything in particular I should have them look for?

The brake pad hardware could have moved. That would let the pad move back and forth when no pressure is applied. Easy fix... annoying, but easy.

Getting dust or dirt in the disc is a frequent cause of squeaks, even a persistent one. Usually, it's no big deal, just a minor annoyance you learn to ignore.
