the new sound
i just made a few mods to my scooter last weekend. the exhaust was one of them. although you cant tell so much from this video, the prima exhaust adds a nice little growl to my buddy.
has anyone else added the prima exhaust?
edit: ok so i was trying to include the video...no luck yet

My Prima arrived today, and I installed it during lunchtime. Woohooo. I love the sound, and the look. Even my Harley riding friend liked the exhaust.
I'm still looking for some new mirrors that are chrome. Just for laughs, I added a basket to the front to replace the chrome rack that is rusting. My next mod is to add two flagpoles, so I can fly colors. Oh, and reflective rim stripes.

Hey Sue -- I've been looking for a small flag pole too. Found anything decent? Best I've seen is this one from Scooterworks:PasadenaSue wrote:My next mod is to add two flagpoles, so I can fly colors...

I don't want anything huge. Just something that will hold a nice fox tail.

Any ideas are appreciated!

I bought the flag poles from Scooterworks (along with a bunch of goodies) and they are fine for the task. They are 9.5" total and have a nice spring on them so they bend. The only catch is that the mounting device needs a 1/4" maximum bar. I can mount them on my rear rack *if* my top box wasn't there. I'm looking at different mounting options (like bending the current mount).Hey Sue -- I've been looking for a small flag pole too. Found anything decent? Best I've seen is this one from Scooterworks:

For some more money, I also found

More expensive, but I like the eagle on the top. I think for a short foxtail the Scooterworks pole will be adequate.

I had the prima installed on my Buddy 50cc with the malossi cylinder and variator upgrade. It sounds great, and resembles a small dirtbike. The aesthetics are improved too. I love that the exhaust shines. For some reason, people want to race me because it sounds like I am revving at a stop light.
Either way, I am a huge fan of the prima pipe, even if it is on my 70cc scoot.

Yeah sound is great, but does it make the scoot any quicker?

So Scooterworks is advertising an NCY exhaust for the Buddy for $149.99. It's black, not chrome like the Prima, but it's cheaper by $30-50. If anyone purchases one, I'd be interested in their thoughts and a soundbyte.
There are some nice accessories coming out for Buddys. I can see another order getting placed soon.

HAHA! Took me a second to get that... I always used tiny balloons.
So putting the prima pipe on definitely voids the warranty, eh? That's the only thing stopping me. It seems like such a vague issue- I've seen many different things posted here about it. Doesn't a lot of it depend on the dealer as well? Aren't they the ones in part who help push something getting covered under warranty?
It does sound and look pretty great. I'd like to hear it in less of an echo chamber too though... maybe just revving in place compared to a stock exhaust.

from what ive read on here, i believe it only voids the part of the warranty that would apply to that specific piece of equipment. someone correct me if im wrong.jmazza wrote: So putting the prima pipe on definitely voids the warranty, eh? Yeah that's what I've read too, although I thought the official Genuine position was that it voids the whole thing. People have argued here that legally it can only void that particular part of the warranty, which obviously isn't such a big deal as having the whole thing voided!!sailortot wrote:from what ive read on here, i believe it only voids the part of the warranty that would apply to that specific piece of equipment. someone correct me if im wrong.jmazza wrote: So putting the prima pipe on definitely voids the warranty, eh? The NCY exhaust as stated on scooterworks.com "This is a stock-replacement type exhaust for your Buddy 125/150. It won't add performance, but it looks cool " This is mainly a cheaper option for someone who has ruined their exhaust. Just so you knowPasadenaSue wrote:So Scooterworks is advertising an NCY exhaust for the Buddy for $149.99. It's black, not chrome like the Prima, but it's cheaper by $30-50.
