Ethanol Blend Gasoline?

Has anybody every used the Ethanol Blended Gasoline on their Buddy?

Not sure if it would cause any problems.

E-85 no. But I have used gasoline with ethanol in all my other vehicles, including two wheelers. I think Citgo has ethanol added. At least it used to.

Never use ethanol is a motor that was not made to run it. When burned Ethanol will create a gummy residue that will gunk up an engine that was not fabricated to process the by-products of ethanol.

In CA, most (if not all?) gas has at least a small % of Ethanol. E85 is something altogether different, and I'm not sure how the Buddy would run on that.

Why would you want to? E-85 is not as potent as normal gas. You'd be losing at least 10% in fuel economy... it's not cheaper to buy... and it's leading to higher prices on other agricultural goods. Give a farmer the choice of a guaranteed government check to grow E-85 ingredients, or take his chance with consumer goods. That's a no-brainer. Less consumer goods for sale and demand hasn't dropped, higher prices on everything a the grocery store. We only have so much farmland and resources to grow stuff (water etc). Granted we need something better than foreign oil all the time, but E-85 just makes no sense. Sorry... I get all worked up over these "easy way out" solutions that always seem to come up.

Its a polition thing.
You can't run e85 in an engine that is not set up for it. E85 will harm regular gaskets, seals, fuel lines.
That's why they can't transport e85 in pipelines & have to truck it.

E-85 gives less mileage and horsepower because it's 70% or more ethanol.

Plus, the buddy isnt meant to run on e85, it's made to run off the low grade unleaded gasoline. Some places may add a small amount to the gas, but it's still majorly gasoline.

Every single gallon of gas sold in Missouri has 10% ethanol in it.

The Governor mandated that change a few months back.

I notice the poorer gas mileage in the Jeep more than the scoot.

The station I've been filling up at sells Ethanol 10%. I'm going to switch and see what kind of difference it makes.

I'm keeping detailed fuel notes.
Date, where I bought it, mileage, MPG, octane, price per gallon etc...

The chicago area (pretty much all of cook county) switched to E10 (10% ethanol) years ago... but not to save oil.
It replaced MTBE.
MTBE replaced lead in gas as an anti-knocking agent back in the 70's.
Problem with MTBE is it is great at messing up ground water.... so where you have a lot of gas stations (cities) & a certain % of those will have leaky tanks... then you get ground water you cant drink.
The gas leaking isnt the big problem, because gas dose not like to mix with water. MTBE LOVES it!
So... ethanol became the solution... a lot of states seem to be switching to E10 now... some because they think it is "green" some because they are starting to realize that the MTBE is killing small lakes & local water sources.
I am NO FAN of ethanol, but MTBE should have never been used anyplace.
FYI - as mentioned in this thread, E85 will cost you between 10% & 20% in MPG.

Why you shouldnt use E85 in your scooter? - E85 will EAT rubber & aluminum - that would do some damage to your fuel system.

Now... if they would stop de-naturing the ethanol, we could drink it rather than put it in our tanks - ethanol is basically corn liquor.

I had some leaded 110 octane race gas left from one of my vintage races last year. Filled up my wifes Buddy 125........she wanted to pass me, me on my bike......if ou look for performance enhancers....this is one at a price of about 5 1/4 a gallon. But the the smell of race fuel compared to the other crap you buy at a price of 3.78 a gallon is unbelivable.

I don't want to start the octane debate all over again, but...

Doesn't the 100 run pretty hot? Is it really okay to run a whole tank of it in the Buddy? And did it actually improve performance?
