I found this interesting scooter website that shows pictures and specs for some of the major scooter manufacturers in the world. Unfortunately for us in the USA, many of them are not available here...
Scooters like this Italjet Dragster:
I know, not for everyone, but interesting just the same (I happen to like it). BTW: This scooter used to be imported here and the remaining ones' have become somewhat collectors items.
If I could, I'd love to get my hands on this Aprilia Leonardo 300 (as in 300cc's) woof!:
Hm, i don't know if that Aprilia is still being manufactured... Not on any of the Aprilia sites and the newest I can find via Google is '05.
A lot of people would love to see the Dragster in the U.S. I still don't think there's quite enough of a market for this type of scoot. At the same time, if Piaggio started bringing over the sportier models, they could create a market for them. That might require marketing, though, so it's not likely.

There are a few dragsters scootin around Cincinnati that are more than 50CC. I think they made a 125CC and a 250CC version in addition to the 50CC. Very quick bikes. I believe there is an oil cooled radiator behind the front grill on Dragsters.
What I remember about the Dragster is that you didn't bother entering a race with one if it showed up to a rally. There was just no point. You'd just stand back and see how fast it went.
The DILLIGAF rally in OK City a few weks ago had an Italjet 50cc. It won the BEST MODERN scoot award.
I forgot the guys name but he was from Arkansas(Fayetteville i believe).
He said he was coming to the Tornado Rally IV in KC, so I should see it again this weekend. He said his 50cc would go 50 mph.

That's too bad about the Leonardo. I'll bet it would be a handful with a 300cc engine and those small wheels! But it'd be fun!

There was a dealer near me that sold the 50cc version and the 125cc. If I remember correctly, the 125cc was a 2-stroke so it made a lot more power than an equivalent 4-stroke.

im talking about the 180cc 2 stroke of course
god i would love one of those, 0-60 in 5 seconds with a top end of 100mph in standard tune aprently!.
Out of all of Taiwan you know there's only 4 Dragsters?! Just messing with you!
Yeah, they have great suspensions and engines. Seems England still has a lot of them because they're always shown in Twist 'N Go magazine (an English mag).
I think you're pretty lucky to be living in one of the hubs of scooter activity. While I was living/working in Hsinchu I rode scooters everytime I didn't need to be in my car. Driving a car in Taiwan is NOT fun.
250cc version looks nice, but I think it's still highly over priced for a MSRP. Like everything piaggo makes, it could be made for alot less, but you're paying for brand name pricing.
See my post on the "3 Best Brands" thread, but in short:
-Italjet is not Piaggio.
-Don't hold your breath for a new Italjet Dragster.
-The Dragster *was* pretty sweet, but its legend has made people forget how clueless Italjet and their US importers were. Parts and service were pretty hard to come by worldwide. The 2-stroke models from 8 years ago were great, but the 4-strokes were a bit ho-hum, and the design isn't quite as innovative as it was when it came out ten years ago. Plus, looking at the reborn Italjet's range of models, I think the new Dragster, if they actually make it, will probably not compare favorably to the old ones in quality, and the couple prototypes they've shown don't seem to have addressed a couple problems that were common to the old version.
