Buddy Riding

Post by ScooterGuyRick »

I love riding my Buddy. I've always ridden alone, however. Now, I've got my partner as my loyal riding buddy. It's been fine...great that we've been accustomed to using hand signals and paying attention to each other on the road.

We often ride in staggered formation and I'm always on the left, whether I'm leading or following, but is there a precedence as to which side the lead cycle should stay on? Our system seems to work, but we just wanted some feedback on buddy riding and what works.

Also, last weekend was his first ride where the head wind was strong enough to rattle him around. He seems pretty discouraged to ride in windy conditions from here on out. What advice can you give him for dealing with this?

Thanks for your help.

The general recommendation is to ride staggered with the front scooter on the left. i have to admit that when we ride together, my wife and I stay on the same sides but alternate who's in the lead. The one thing we adhere to is that the rider on the left makes left turns first and the rider on the right, right turns first. This prevents us from crossing each other's paths.

There are few recommendations for riding together in this pamphlet.

We also ride staggered--leader in the left side of the lane. My dad usually leads, mainly because I never know where the heck we're going! And I DON'T CARE!!! :P
