Hey all-
Just got my Buddy 125 the other day, but i don't have my class L license, city medallion, or insurance yet.
All of the free classes are booked until September/October. Can I ride on a permit (if I get it on Friday) until then?
Also, who do you recommend getting insurance from?
My husband and I own a condo (homeowners insurance), and we just got a company car (company provides auto insurance), so I'm not certain what we should do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i go through state farm, but we also have our 3 cars through them. i think there's a few people on here who go through a company that does motorcycles only....can't remember the names though, sorry. oh, i pay about 13 bucks a month for a 250 deductable. and i live in juneau, alaska. i know they are different for each state.

Do you have a temp. license? If you do, Ken (at Scooterworks) tells me that you can't be ticketed for not having a city medallion (i.e. similar to city sticker) if you have temps--you need actual plate # to get medallion. I am currently riding with just a permit--plan on going in for the riding test next Tuesday---have heard that some people ride for years without a license. Finally, I've got State Farm, as my car is insured by them. Check with your car's insurance carrier, as they should also automatically cover your scooter for a short amount of time (a few days to even a month, depending on the carrier) until you've officially insured it.

There's very little commonality among insurers and rates for different people because it's based on location, age, experience and a myriad of other sometimes seemingly random factors. Unfortunately, it pays to do the footwork and get quotes from as many companies as you can. As I've said in other threads, I've received quotes for similar coverage for the same person that varied by several hundred dollars. Quotes from a company for two different people—even if they live in the same area—can vary by as much.
If you have homeowners insurance, call the company to see if they also offer motorcycle insurance. You may get a deal this way.
