Possible paint palette for Buddy?

Post by renbyrd »

Inspired by the fashionable colors of the 80s, I've decided I want to mod up my seafoam Buddy in memory of this colorful decade.

Thoughts on the color scheme? Too much or not enough? I was also thinking about painting the rims white, and possibly tinting the chrome mirrors and rear rack pink. After much debate, I decided, however, to not go ahead with the leg warmers.

Really, I like it. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to change the seat from zebra print to something with random geometrical shapes in those '80s colors:

Do you think a shag pink seat would be more 80s?

The '80s color scheme is nothing less than awesome. Embrace it!

Taken out of context, this is a very strange question.

That said, I have seen seat covers which had tassels around the edge. So it can be done.

You've been watching too many Honda Elite commercials haven't you? Just kidding, I really like that scheme. I'm diggin' the geometric shapes idea, but the zebra and the shag is cool too... Shag makes me think of 70's more tho.

I think you might be obligated to wear an oversized sweatshirt with the neck hole cut out with a side ponytail and crimped bangs while riding! Don't forget the shiny gold spandex stirrup pants!!! :wha:

Watch the first 15 minutes of the original Terminator movie and you will be rewarded. Honda scooter. Crimpy hair. Shoulder pads wider than a Datsun.

the leg warmers are the best part. def. my favorite thing about winter is being able to bust out the pumps and leg warmers...

It needs some Composition Notebook texture on it somewhere.

VW Beetle nerds call that "Cal Look" I think.

This is the quintessential 80s design as far as I'm concerned:

Followed closely behind by the titles for Square Pegs.

You're on the right track. See if you can make it as horrible as these:

One word sums up the color scheme needed - mauve!

Heh, I was looking for the very similarly styled cover to the Vel's long forgotten new wave classic, "Look My Way."

Square Pegs is finally coming out on DVD! Guess my conspiracy theory about Sarah Jessica Parker buying the rights to prevent the show from ever being released was off track. (I know there were problems with music clearance and hope they were able to keep all the original music from the show.) Johnny Slash will live again! I'm going to go pogo now.

There are a few episodes on Joost.com.

I don't know why SJP would try to block it, that and L.A. Story were the only two good things she ever did.

And even if she owns it, nows the time to cash in because the Sex/City movie is coming out OMG She's getting MARRIED Just like JULIA ROBERTS OMG, OMG let's drink colorful mango chocolatinis and talk about weiners!

I bet she rides a scooter in the movie.

Sorry, for the hijack here. We'll get back to talking about colors ASAP...

Oh, I don't really think that she tried to prevent its release... The notion came from frustration at the show not having been released on DVD yet, as if she were trying to hide her awkward, nerdy past. I mean, she wasn't even the cute one in Square Pegs.

I wouldn't put it past her, though. She's certainly very controlling of her image and career: All Sex & the City movie merchandise is being sold through her Bitten clothing line so she gets a cut of it all. By contract, she's the only character who appears on the movie poster.

And yeah, even people I know who liked the tv show think this movie's a cheap way of cashing in.

But what do i know? I'm apparently the only person in the world who thought Speed Racer was awesome.

The colors look great! I agree though the seat may be the wrong genre... but then again I dont like animal print..

-- And btw the original speed racer rocked. I hated the movie. They didnt even play the song until the credits and it was the ghetto version. me = mad. --

It's all beginning to make sense now...

Jem, BTW, was voiced by the lovely and talented Britta Phillips, who was briefly in the band Luna and is now half of Dean & Britta. If you're a fan of smooth '60s French-style pop, check out their last CD, Back Numbers. If not, do not listen to me, the only adult in the world who thought Speed Racer was awesome.
