New Member, hoping to buy a Buddy 125 this Sunday!

Post by Othergods »

Hello hello,

I plan to buy a Buddy 125 this Sunday if they will sell one to me. I do not have the motorcycle endorsement on my license yet. I plan to get that this comming week. I plan to put the Buddy in the back of my truck to get it home and take the test on Tuesday next week.

I have been lurking and shopping for a scooter for a few weeks now. I started off wanting a Vespa (yeah yeah just because of the name), then I saw the prices and decided to shop a little and then fell in love with the Honda Metropolitian, then decided I needed more than 50cc and then fell for the Vino 125, then I read the comparison between the Vino and the Buddy and saw some pics and then I knew it was the one I had to have. (I do like the stella also but mostly that green it comes in, looks kinda like the color of the tents on the tv show Mash :) )

Now that I have solidified my love for the Buddy 125 I am gonna take the plung this weekend (again if they will sell it to me). My local deal is:
Volusia Motorsports & Bicycles
1701 S.R. 44
New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168
(386) 428-2212

Anyone in my area ever deal with these guys? I can not wait to see them in person to see what color pops for me, so far on the web I am liking the black, the seafoam looks a little to light for me.

I am a 33 year old insurance adjuster, this Buddy will be my daily driver to work (12 miles one way) and to the YMCA (only a couple miles from home) I just can not keep pouring $40 in gas in my truck every 10 days. I am sure it will actually be so fun I will take it on drives no where just to enjoy it.

I will stop rambling now, I am just glad to be here.

Congratulations. I'm sure you will love the Buddy. I urge you to take the MSF course as soon as possible and give careful thought to good safety gear for riding (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, etc.). Have fun, ride safe.

welcome. I am so happy to hear that you decided on a Buddy. Like you I did a huge amount of research before I decided on a Buddy, I love my Buddy so much!
I too live about 15-18 miles from my work. I started scooting to work about 3 wks ago and I have put a total of $7.50 in my tank. LOL I just love it. When it gets warmer here in Idaho I plan on scooting everywhere.

Happy scooting. You'll have to tell us all about it after you get it.

I plan on taking the written test to get the temp license next week, I will be taking the 3 day course to get all the time on a bike the first weekend in June (I hope, as my schedule allows) I run alot of 5k's on the weekend so getting the class scheduled will take some work.

I have already thought about the safety gear also, I like the Joe Rocket jackets I have seen, I think I am gonna go with a full motorcycle style helmet, I really want a custom design on the helmet. If I buy a white one can they be painted? Are there shops out there that do this service? I am not sure I wanna trust the job to a flea market airbush artist :P

I will definitley post when I make the puchase, with pics even :)

Well looks like my plans are pushed to next Saturday. I just got back from the local dealer and they are closed on Sunday for some reason. I did get to look in the window and saw a a few Buddy 125's (light blue, red, sea foam and cream) 2 50's (orange and light blue) a Black Blur and a Rattler (do not remember the color).

Thanks!

The only good thing about this is I should be able to get my temporary endorsment this week by taking the written test at the DMV. I hope to get into a MSF course early June. I can not wait :)

Well it was still worth the 20 min ride to look in the window and see the ones i could see :)

I am thinking of taking a sick day this week to go take my written test at the DMV and then riding down and buying one. I am not sure of the color I want. I really like the dark green of the international's. To bad the standard 125 does not come in that color.

Cough cough, so I was feeling a little sick today :P I took my motorcycle written test and passed it. Then went across the street to my local scooter dealer. Almost jumped on the Pamplona, then I was advised that they are expecting a shipment today or tomorrow and are expecting an Italia, I told him I had to have it. He will be calling me when it gets in to come up and buy it. Woot!!!

I picked out a jacket and he is holding it for me. He advised when I pick up the Scooter, we can sit down and order a helmet that matches the color woohoo. The salesman advised me that he will loan me one of his helmets for the couple days I will have to wait for it to arrive.

The only catch is I have to go to a scooter night they are having in New Smyrna Beach this Thursday to show off the Italia.

Good news and bad news. I got a call from the scooter guy and their order definitely has my Italia on it, but the order will be delayed. He is going to call me with the delivery date on Saturday :(

Bad news just got worse, Called my dealer and was advised that the shipment will be sometime in June. Genuine would not give them anything more specific than June.

I called the shop in St Petersburg and they are sold out, they should be getting one Orange next week. I called the Gainesville shop and they have a 50cc Italia and a St Tropez but nothing else. I called the St Augustine shop and they guy said they were packed and put me on hold, 12 minutes later I hung up due to the visions in my head of all the Buddy's selling.

My local shop has a Red 125 with 15 miles on it and a seafoam, but I was really digging the Italia or Pamplona, guess I will have to wait for the shipment to come in :(
