Austin Inclusionary Scooter Modification Workshops

Post by madtolive »

Hey all, I just wanted to gauge the level of interest in all of us getting together not only to participate in the consumption of alcohol, but also to possibly get some work done? Maybe we can get a list together of mods we all want to do and set up dates to work on them (side note: how SWEET would it be to get John from urban moto to come hang out on those days? only in my dreams. ::le sigh::)

not sure how it'd work out if we're doing stuff that will take longer than one day...

also maybe we can throw in some checklist days (ahem, corsair's austin weirdness checklist) with the workshop days.

anywho, just an idea. if indeed no one is interested, it's okay, i'll just have these awesome parties in my garage by myself. they're going to be way super fun.

I thought you were going to listen to the Small Faces and wear parkas and learn how to beat up Rockers. : )

hey if it's a Saturday I'm there to lend a hand. It would be cool to have some "How To..." workshops. Gives everyone a chance to share knowledge and experience. A guy that I used to work with @ Scoot Around Town lives in the area and he's a great mechanic. Maybe I can talk to him about sharing some of his knowledge.

You already know I'm down for checking stuff off the things to do list. Your dude needs to hurry up and get his scooter so we all can go riding together.

PS
Rockers? Mods? F#ck it... I'm that dude on the Sunset Buddy 8)

NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo damn you proverbial rainchecks!!!

I'm taking my MSF course Saturday morning and then I've got to help prepare for a bachelor/bachelorette party later that night. Stupid active lifestyle! Maybe there's room in there somewhere. Was there a certain time you were thinking Mad?
side note: how SWEET would it be to get John from urban moto to come hang out on those days? only in my dreams. ::le sigh:Smile
And if I didn't know any better I'd say that sounds like swooning. Scandalous!

that's why it's much more fun to have no friends, like me. :D

brains, i'm beginning to doubt your commitment to our community. scooters are not a fun hobby or a pastime to enjoy on the weekends. it's a lifestyle, a life plan, a very serious irrevocable decision to live your life a certain way. i'm not seeing that in you, pal. so hows about you straighten your act up?

which reminds me, you guys, this saturday is bad for me too. the hombre's brosef is having a bar b q in san anto that i'm trying to find a way to ride my scooter to.

next saturday doesn't work either for me, because i have to do a little thing we call "graduate". i never thought i'd see the day, truly.

but really, we all need to be very, and i mean like uber committed to this endeavor. just, you know, not within the next couple of weeks.
And if I didn't know any better I'd say that sounds like swooning. Scandalous!
i am one swooning sort of lady, i must admit. and if our society were more open to different lifestyles it wouldn't have to be scandalous at all. i ran it by the bf, needless to say i think it'll be some time before he warms up to it. hey man, primates have been polyandrous for like, ever. just ask the marmosets.

it's past lunchtime you guys, my sugar's crashing and i'm all giddy and out of my usual sorts. forgive my ramblings. having bad blood glucose going ons excuses my wackiness.

I'm having trouble keeping track of this thread, what with all the name changes and the oi!

It's tough to gauge sarcasm/sincerity on the intertubes, but if you're serious then you have a very self-secure man on your hands. Don't ever let go! He could be your solid rock, and all the other men in your life could be the moss. I instantly realize that doesn't make sense; I'm just trying to say that Austin accepts all lifestyles and choice of shenanigans.

Austin meet-up to work on Buddies

Post by Benavides »

Hey y'all - I just got my 07 Black Buddy at Urban Moto a few weeks ago. I'm game for meeting to do work on our scoots and/or go for rides. I'd particularly enjoy company getting out of town and out into the country for a longer ride.

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts here on Modern Buddy and the discourse re the advantages of the Buddy were instrumental in my purchasing one from Urban Moto rather than ordering a Chinese made POS online. It's great to see so much enthusiasm from everyone for their Buddy(s) - I certainly share that sentiment!

Welcome to the board! I think your scoot and my scoot are from the same batch at Urban Moto. You wouldn't happen to live next to Mopac would you? I was cruising the neighborhoods south of West Anderson Lane and saw a '07 Black Buddy with a topcase parked outside some apartments.

Anywho, we could start by attending some local scooter events as Steve from the scooterscoop is very active in the community. Everyone here reads up on that right?

http://thescooterscoop.blogspot.com/

I'd like to do the longer rides too, but a lot of us have only recently purchased our scoots and the engines are still breaking in. It would be advantageous for us to join some other rides and see how all the logistics of it are worked out. Plus we'll meet some peeps!

I know I haven't really got the ball moving in any way, but it's fun to walk about. :P <--- my tongue

Yes, I think they are from the same batch - you have the Buddy with the whitewalls? I bought mine earlier that week and saw it perched on the line when I came to pick mine up.

I live in the north campus area, by Wheatsville. No topcase (yet). I was surprised to find that the underseat storage is sufficient for most of my storage needs.

I'm still in break-in, too. I'm right at 500 miles right now. Going to take my Buddy (still nameless - having trouble deciding. girlfriend booed suggestion of "Gisele") for second oil change/service this week.

One word of wisdom gleaned from the Modern Vespa workshop experience, do the drinking after the workshops, not before or during.

Y'all have fun down there and remember to ride safe.

since not all of us are high-traffic/nighttime savvy (primarily, me) maybe we could meet up at a place with good snacks, either with or without our buddys? seems some people come from up north, some come from down south, so i'm thinking somewhere more central, with easy parking, hmmm...hows about dog and duck pub? they have an excellent bleu cheese platter and some of the best onion rings in town.

lets open it up for other suggestions, eh?

We really should plan a huge MB scooter rally in a central location to get as many members as possible together for a big shindig.

FYI, the Buddy Mafia is invited to my graduation shindig on Saturday at 5ish en mi casa. If any of ya'll can make it let me know and I'll shoot you directions to the house.

The parental units will be in attendance so please lets keep the stripper action to a minimum. I think about 3 will be more than enough.

Hope to see ya'll there!
