my scooter is damaged!

Post by r0sa »

i laid my scooter down 2 weeks ago, after that incident, i was shooken up and was afraid to ride my buddy, now that my foot is all better, im really anxious to be getting back on, i miss riding it dearly, but i cracked/scraped up some of the parts pretty bad, do you guys know where could i get the parts? any suggestions?

i want to get it checked out at a shop but since i bought it in san antonio, could i possibly get it checked out at a shop in houston and if the damages are under warranty, could the warranty transfer or do i have to get it looked at the dealership that i got it from?

here are some pics of the damage:

im so saddened by the fact that my buddys hurt :(

I say leave it until you are sure footed on the scoot again, I have seen it time and time again. fixed the wrecked scoot, wrecked the fixed scoot.

Looks eerily similar to damage from a slide I had, but on the other side... I was able to rig my headlight though, and I've replaced the chrome bezel and done a bit of painting since then, so you can barely notice!

I didn't ride for a day or 2 afterwards, but it's my only transport, so I got back on after my knees got a little better...

you should be able to take it to any dealer for warranty issues.

Any dealer should fix it, but I'd take it to the one you bought it at since they'd probably cover it, you know them better, so they would treat you a bit nicer.

Sure. Getting in an accident is absolutely a warranty issue.

If I took a bike to a dealer and asked them to cover any damage under warranty after laying it down, I am sure they would not laugh at me.

You sould be able to order the parts through any Buddy dealer. If you have any deductible at all, don't bother filing a claim until you find out how much the parts will cost. Why file a claim with your insurance company if its less than your deductible?
Most of the damage is cosmetic. Unscrew the old parts, screw on the new ones. Watch for the snap together tabs.

Don't embarrass yourself by asking a dealer if its covered under warranty. That's a great big NO. A crash is not a manufacturing defect unless you can prove the crash was caused by a defect - of the bike, not the rider.

Just like a car. If it was damaged in an accident that was your fault - its your insurance or your wallet. If somebody else hit it - it is their insurance or their pocket. Only way there is any warranty issue involved is if you claim that a factory defect caused the accident, i.e. catastrophic brake failure or something like that. Warranty claims are to correct the factory's mistakes not yours.

are you sure you read the responses? as was mentioned before, your warranty will NOT cover any damage (even internal ones) if you caused it, which in this case, you did. a warranty is to protect you from having to pay for manufacturer defects, usually, mechanical, electrical, brakes, etc.

Might want to give them a call. That headlight assembly is one of the harder parts to get all back together though. It really would be best if a dealer could look at it! Any Genuine dealer would work, not just the one you bought from.
