Manual Confusion

Post by ear »

I was under the impression that Genuine was a US based company. If this is true, then why does the manual read like it was poorly translated from japanese?

These scooters had been out for a few years now, right? Surprised they couldn't pay someone a few hundred to clean that thing up.

Genuine is just the US importer. The parent company is PGO and is Taiwanese. I have heard that Genuine is working at updating the manuals so they are less confusing.

Genuine Scooter Company is a US company. They have PGO manufature the Buddy, International, Rattler, & Roughhouse. The Stella is manufactured in India, but I am not sure of the company's name.

Genuine Scooter Company branched out of Scooterworks. Home Page

Me have write General Genuine to of manual working operation for to the possible owner understand. Hurt hurt follow only part for scooter. He write Company General work work hard reprint.

So, until the new one is out, contact your dealer, have them backorder one for you and you'll get it when finished.

Maybe, but probably not. More than likely its a brain fart on my part due to a low intake of red meat. I should have said

GENUINE. But, it does start with a 'G' and in GENERAL seems to be a good company. That is a GENUINE feeling based on my GENERAL experience. Not only that but GENERAL GENUINE is a family friend and is not related in any way to THE GENUINE SCOOTER COMPANY BASED IN A BIG BUT NOT OVERLY BIG BRICK BUILDING IN CHICAGO. I used to date his daughter. GENERAL GENUINE'S daughter that is. Now there is another tragic story.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. No, not now, I'm late for an interview.

Ahh me. Perhaps its a longing for a return to those joyous formative years at the reformatory.

Just to be clear, PGO is not the parent company of Genuine in the sense that they own any part of Genuine. Genuine is an independent company which imports scooters from PGO of Taiwan and LML of India as repackaged models with elements specific to the US market. Genuine is a spin-off company of Scooterworks, the Chicago-based resource for vintage Vespa parts in North America. A third company, Prima, is the in-house accessories company brand also part of Scooterworks.

Originally, Genuine only imported/offered the Stella, which is manufactured by LML in India. When LML started having labor issues, Genuine wisely sought out a second company to be a model source for continued growth, especially in a scooter market growing more toward the twist-and-go style of scooter. PGO was the answer, as they make fantastic scooters and lacked a USA presence. But it all started with Scooterworks and LML was the only manufacturer for a while there before they started working with PGO.
