NEED to VENT!!!
So this is Father's Day, I took my hubby out to brunch at the golf club. Very nice, great food and our son behaved himself. We were all having a great day - until after we got home.
We were out maybe 3 hours total. Parked our car and went into the house. Of course not 5 minutes later I get the "buddy itch" I HAD to go riding.
Went outside and tried to start her and she would not start. Getting frustrated I looked up and saw that my mirror was pushed in and the windshield was leaning towards the right. I got off my Buddy and looked at her and saw that someone had scratched the hell out of her!!
Someone must have pushed her over and boy am I pissed!! She was parked right in front of my house!!! She was fine when I left her at lunch time. Maybe it was an accident, but NO ONE saw anything - of course. I know that kids could have hit it with their bike and knocked it over. That's fine but an ADULT (or teenager) had to pick her back up. So someone knows SOMETHING!
Even thought it's only a 50, I do have insurance with only a $50 deductible. (the hubby always wondered why I insure everything - now he knows)
Everything on the left is scratched.....the pink panels, the new black interior, windshield, mirror, foot rests and basket are all now scratched to hell.
Sorry this is so long - but I am so upset and REALLY needed to VENT...
Thanks!!! (and for all your DADS out there - HAPPY FATHER"S DAY)

Damn sorry to hear about this. I had a similar incident (parked on a residential side street while getting a haircut) when my scoot was only a few weeks old! I nearly cried.
I am now VERY conscientious about where and how I park, and try to park where cars can't even get to it if possible. Sadly, there have been a couple times when I've been out to eat with friends, had to park on the street, and have spent the whole meal looking out the window, watching my scoot to make sure it's okay. Or I've excused myself to "go to the restroom," i.e. poke my head out and check the scooter.

somebody backed into my Buddy and knocked it over. I never would have known had it not been a colleague (who I did not know) and they surely felt obligated to contact me-either that or the video camera made them feel guilty. I swear I could not find a scratch...tupperwear is ok sometimes. Maybe your Buddy got hit a little harder than you think to cause all that scraching. Sorry it happened, but it should end up ok in the end.

I did call the police. I was sure he would laugh at me because it just a little 50 scooter but he didn't. He says he understands why I am so upset.jfrost2 wrote:As long as I've waited for my buddy, if someone damaged or put 1 scratch on my bike on purpose or from horse play while I was gone, I'd find them and kill them, or just call the cops, scream and get those guys arrested and make them pay for all my repairs and some more.
I want to find the person responsible and...................
I can't go there!! I am TRYING to be good about this and not be so vindictive. IT'S HARD!!!

This really sucks. Right in front of your house? As in in your driveway? On the sidewalk? Porch?
Wow... what a drag!!
I usually try to park legally which means parking in spaces when I'm in stores, etc. and I always worry about my scooter being hit. I think I'm going to start being more creative about my parking and see what happens... it's all for the good of the Buddy, right?
Hope it all works out in the end. I can understand wanting to be vindictive but that (as you know) won't help anything. I guess it might be good to know who did it so you can talk to them/watch for them, but just focus on getting your Buddy fixed up and ready to roll.

I think that you did the right thing to call in the cops. I bet a lot of your neighbors are giving the Hairy Eyeball to their kids. I'm betting it was kids and sooner or later the truth will be out. In the old days upon finding out that their kid caused damage a parent would drag the kid over to make amends. Unfortunately these days not only are the kids allowed to do whatever they please but if caught red handed the parent initiates a law suit against the wounded party. So vent... !!
I'd get an alarm put on. So what if the neighborhood cats in the middle of the night sets it of and disturbs the neighbors. I'd just tell them that the alarm stays on til the guilty party fesses up.
Funny thing. As the owner of a FJ Cruiser I belong to their forum. When they first came out people on the forum were complaining of similar incidents. Kids banging their bikes into the door panels and jumping up and down on their hoods. Quite a few confrontations with parents. What gives with these kids? Are they brain damaged?

Yes. Too much TV, not enough discipline, parents that fight all their battles, too much parenting where there are no losers and there are no consequences. ( I *am* a parent, I have 3 kids, and if one of my kids does something like this, not only are they fessing up, they'll be busting their asses to raise the money to make the repairs, it has already happened once with a Wii Remote and a TVArtisan wrote:Are they brain damaged?
