Chinese (PRC) Scooters and Scooters stock

Post by pcbikedude »

During my search for cooler weather, I headed for the ocean. There happens to be a scooter shop down there that carries Mainland Chinese scooters. They carry to Tank and Lance brands.

I decided to check out why most of us don't recommend them. They didn't have any new Tank scooters in. But they had several there for service. Fit and finish on those were terrible. The plastics looked terrible after a short period of ownership. Yeah, it could be the salt air but that usually takes years to damage paint. Just inferior tupperware.

However, I did look at 3 different models of Lances. Fit and finish were comparable to the Buddy or Kymco. I was impressed. The feel of the scooters were very similar to Kymco Agility 125 (also main land product). They have a GY6 clone 4 stroke engine. The hardware, brake handles, throttle, etc. had a quality feel.

Yes, I was impressed but not enough to buy one. The prices for these scooters have rocketed up because the shortage of the high quality scooters. The guys at that shop says that even they will be out of scooters within 2 weeks.

I also visited several MC shops recently, they too are out of lower priced quality scooters. Also, their lower price MC (Honda Rebels and Nighthawks, Suzuki GZ250, Yamaha Virago) are all sold out.
The scenery only changes for the lead scooterist.

When I took my Budd to Tulsa Scooters today, I took a look at a new CFMoto EJewel 150. I was pretty impressed by it except for a critical lack of storage space under the seat.

Yes, that is my scooter.
Yes, I wear a helmet and a FIRSTGEAR armored jacket.
No, I'm not embarrassed to be seen riding it.
Yes, that is an NRA sticker on the fender.
