Yeah, I was surprised at that as well. Wonder why there are so many riders over 40? For me, it's a combination of economy and I have a lot of friends who own scooters and have been wanting me to get one and do some group rides.

Interesting shaped distribution of ages so far. It would be a pretty good bell shaped curve centering on ... 39 ... except for the unusually high 25-29 category and unusually low 30-34 category.

Because young punks are all wrapped up in image. So they buy sport bikes. Then, the few old farts that are still wrapped up in image go and buy Harleys. Those of us old farts who aren't influenced by image and just want to have fun buy scooters!

Of course this is an age distribution of Modern Buddy Users. Among scooter users, I'd guess ages starting at about 40+ are under-represented among computer users. Those of us in college in the late 80s were among the first to use computers daily and start using them recreationally (Compuserve anyone)? Not that everyone is the same, but at that age and above people are more likely to use a computer at work because they have to and while they might do some shopping and use e-mail the computer is much less a part of their daily lives. Again, there are a lot of exceptions, but I've certainly found this to be true.

Clearly some early 30s are lying about their age and pretending to be in their "late 20s". :) I know I did when I was that age... I've since gotten over it. :P

So I guess that means 35 is about the age all the young punks get over their image issues and realize just how stinking handy CVT is in stop-and-go traffic?

Those of us younger than 35 are just ahead of the learning curve. ;)

ALMOST 39 (3 months away - but I picked that category anyway) and I act 12
1 partner (who is pushing 49 but has all the sophistication of a 16 year old)
6 dogs
4 cats
1 fish (RIP Fish)
1 bird
a resident frog (he hangs out in the dogs' water bowl in the summer)
1 scooter (Bonheur)
1 cruiser (Pink)
1 Sportage (Sophy)
1 del Sol (Paky)
1 mortgage
1 job
NO children, unless you count the ones we 'babysit' on occasion...

And I disagree with the young punks want a sport bike thing...I've wanted a scooter since I WAS a young punk. Back in the day when it actually meant something that we wore battered Chucks and listened to Siouxsie and Skinny Puppy and slam danced at Theatre Gallery and Twilight Room when Deep Ellum was just Commerce Street...and gosh darn it I feel OLD now.

CRAPPITY.

Bunny, they still wear beat-up Chucks, Siouxsie is a mandatory staple, and the parties never stopped...just constantly change location. ;)

bunny, you're just a year younger than me—if you were hanging out in those places it's a wonder we never met. I used to ditch school, go record shopping at VVV, then see a movie at the Inwood or shopping on Lower Greenville. Did you ever hang out at any FW clubs?

Angela, Sioux was an idol for me, too. I was even wearing the big Sioux head t-shirt in my fake ID picture (Vikon Village, any of you DFW people? Fake ID central!).

Though I must confess, I was more new wave than punk. And I mean that in all the worst, most embarrassing ways.

ha three of the four moderators are 39.

As far as being old, Surfer Rosa came out 20 years ago, making it as old to a college kid now as sgt pepper was when I was in college. The clash is like chuck berry old.

I do similar calculations all the time. It was worse when I was working with people who were mostly 15 or more years younger.

I'm 27 going on 18 (I never want to grow up). No kids, just Tricia (my everything), Baby (my kitty-might as well be my kid), Frida (her kitty), Sparticus (asian box turtle which I have appearantly adopted) my CB360 and Italia, her CB350 and Pamplona, my (3) surfboards and (4) skateboards-all of which keep me on my toes and young... I'd leave it too skateboarding or I'd be 27 going on 45.

I'm 18 years old, and my Buddy is my only ride. I think it'd be cool to find a cute Buddy girl to ride with my age, but no luck so far :P

I have pretty much fallen in love with all things scooter, but I'm glad I'm not the only one around here! Other than that, I'm a freshman taking classes for Nursing, who loves photography, and making music.
