Sorry to keep nagging, but about that uni filter....

Which one did you get and did you just clamp it on the end of the flexible snorkel that goes to the carb or did you attach it directly to the carb intake?

Thx.
.::I know the voices in my head aren't real, but man do they come up with some great ideas::.

Attached to the intake tube, not to the carb directly to the carb:)

Here is a link to what it should look like.

Good Luck
Mr. Miller,
Is that the 1.5" x 4" or 1.5" x 5"?
Any idea if it matters?

Ok so the latest info. I went up to see kaos and we found out that the 2009 and going forward have a special air/fuel mixture screw. It takes a "D" key to adjust it and only authorized Genuine dealers appear to be able to get them, it is an EPA thing:( So no wonder the place that was trying to get things straightened out for me was having problems... They couldn't adjust the carb!
So Kaos threw his 115 in my Jack and sent me up to Portland Vespa to see if they would be willing to tune my carb. It was 5:00 on a Saturday with no appointment and they clos at 6:00, yikes. I plead my case to Pedro at PV and explained the situation and that I was 3 hours away from home and only there for the day. Pedro was great, he broke down and agreed to help me out. He tune the carb while my buddy was still in the bed of the truck. He really seemed to know what he was doing. He did however give me a slight reprimand about removing the stock air box. He said that you should never do more than derestrict the airbox, but it was a bit late for that.
So right know my pilot jet seems to be tuned great, but I am lean with the 115 main jet, I have a 120 and a 125 I will be trying this week.

The moral of the story is that if I had it to do again I would not do the UNI filter, way too much of a headache for someone in my situation :?

So if you are going to do the UNI filter, check to see if you have the normal adjusting screw or the new one. Otherwise you might have some issues, unless you are going to have a Genuine dealership do to for you

i've got an 09 motor i was able to tune my carb with a tiny ass screw driver. I wonder where you can get one of those D keys ....

Im running the 161cc cyl kit, uni filter, 58.5 big valve head, exhaust with a 120 main jet.

I live in texas and with my AFR gauge, i am running my air to fuel ratio around 10:1 at idle, 12:1 at mid and 14:1 at wot

my carburetor sits backwards with the uni filter coming out through the front lol

Your ride is crazy looking! Way cool :D

Well if you are running a 120 with the 161cc then 125 might not be too far off for my 171cc...

I've also heard of people using used .22cal brass, hand formed into a rough "D" shape to remove the mixture screw, and then cutting a straight slot in the top of the screw so you can use a standard screwdriver to adjust. (Run the screw all the way in, counting the turns first so you can return back to the stock setting when you start to tune.)

Well the 125 main jet seems to be working quite well:) good pull especially above 30mph. Only a slight crackle on occasion at mid throttle, and my pilot jet seems to be tuned very well also. The place here in town was nice enough to install the main jet for free which is also a bonus:)

I have tried 2 more jet sizes, just to be thorough (128 and 130). I finally hit the rich wall again at 130.

So back to 128:) Jack is running very well now. It is very quick, but not really any faster :P

You need to look at shimming your needle [fixed] or possibly finding a new needle profile.

Sorry to beat a dead horse..

Tiffany rode Jack today, she weights about 75lbs less than me and she said that she was able to max out the speedo on the flats

So the conclusion is that weight makes a big difference.

Mine is running well with the 115 jet at near sea level. Also removed all of the vacuum lines and the factory air assy. Threw the pod on the carb and put a mini pod on the breather tube coming from the head cover.

You're gonna likely end up with a lot of oil all over your engine with a pod on the breather. They blowback a LOT when wound up.

So far so good. It is a breather tube specific pod. Will keep an eye on it.

Motorsport Scooters has the D shaped tool for adjusting the idle mix. The Vespa LX has the same setup.

what's the difference between the 45 and 38mm? It would be for a stock Buddy 125. It's been asked about rain, anyone have complications yet with dealing with rain?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but how the heck did you fit a 1.5" Unifilter onto the intake tube?

I have trimmed my intake tube to remove the lip, etc. but can't for the life of me get my new Unifilter to slide on there. It looks like I'm better off getting a piece of 1.5" OD metal tubing to use as a coupler between the two pieces.
