Would love to hear how this works out. It's at the top of my next helmet list.
After fully charging it up, I tested it out some with Pandora on my phone (Yay! Music while riding! And shush all you naysayers who will say it is a bad idea to have the distraction of music. We're all taking risks just riding the scooters in the first place), and it didn't drop once. So I think it might've just been because I hadn't charged it yet and the battery was very low.
Ooooh, great. How's the volume in the helmet?

I won't know until I use it while out on the road. :)

Though the voice call intro thing is barely audible, even when the music sounds fine. That could just be my phone though.

I have now purchased an Enfotrace.

http://enfotrace.com/products/riderseye-powersport/

$295 for the kit. Includes the GPS tracker plus a tilt-sensor, and 1 year of service with 1000 "checks". After that it is $50/year for 500 "checks". That info is useful since their website doesn't list prices at all.

I'll need to install it myself, basically just tapping the always-on power, grounding it, and also the ignition cable, but it should be pretty easy.

Apparently it will send an sms if it is moved without the ignition being on, if it moves out side of "safety zones" I set, or if it gets knocked over, and it does all the usual GPS tracing stuff via their website. I think it will be worth it.

After I install it, I'll update, and maybe call Progressive and see if I can get a discount on my insurance. :)

I will NOT lose another scooter!

That system sounds pretty sweet. You could set up your own sting. Kinda like bait car. (Really stupid show) look forward to updates on install and setup.

Congrats on getting your new Blackjack. I've been paranoid for mine ever since your first post about this sh*tty series of misadventures, and I'm not being a smart aleck. I'm considering grip locks myself now, even when I park it in my locked garage.
I know it's little consolation in the wake of what happened, but I happen to believe in karma. The goofs who got your first scoot are probably feel pretty ballsy, and if they took that old motorcycle too, then they're feeling really ballsy, and might be trying to part out their ill gotten gains.
Spurred by 'easy money', as they surely see it, they're gonna keep going. And as sure as candy at Christmas, they're gonna set out one night to score again, thinking about how 'cool' it was to rip off your gear.
And you know what? Bet your bottom dollar, in the middle of their 'big score', some owner is gonna rack an 870 Remmington shotgun or pull back the slide on a Glock. Hell, he may even charge 'um with an alluminum baseball bat...That's what my brother and three neighbors did to the two guys who were ripping off car stereos from their apartment's parking lot...and it was 'swing batter, batter, swing!'
And when the goofs who ripped you off finally get their's, one way or another, even though they'd never admit, they'll wish they'd never even thought about stealing your original Blackjack.

Got my Enfotrace, and just finished installing it.

Was fairly easy, though I had to study the wiring diagram in the user manual to find the always-on power. Turns out, the 12v adapter slot is always on, so I tapped that.

It took a really long time for it to finally get a GPS connection, but now it has one, and the website shows me exactly where it is. Yay!

While I was out there, I put in the LED replacements for my DOT signals that I never bothered to install last year, mostly because I couldn't figure out how to install the universal flasher relay, because I didn't know how to read a circuit diagram back then.

Hopefully Lil Buddy can get the BoB Combo Adapters in soon, so I can be done getting it all back to the way it was.

Have you checked the GPS function when you and your bike are away from home? I'm wondering how well it tracks in this area. I'd really like to get that and probably will depending on what you think.

Not yet. Just installed it today, and since spring refuses to actually come, I don't know how soon I will actually be riding it to work.
