I'm just being silly.
The people in So Cal won't understand because riding season is all year 'round for them.
It is for me if I bundle up. Rode to church Sunday morning with the temp dead on 40 degrees. My first chill of the year. Snow and ice happen maybe once a year if at all at this latitude.
You poor folk in the middle and northern states have to pack your rides away until spring.

"Really nice" is relative. The best riding here is from maybe the end of March through May. After that it quickly gets nasty hot, even when moving. This time of year we get a break during the season of indecision. Then winter sets in and it's still rideable but hardly optimum.
The cruiser set disappear quickly and you won't see them again until the daffodils bloom.
I was thinking about my cold spots Sunday and If I had some good overpants, Hippo Hands and one of those blanket things that wraps around the bottom edge of the helmet and keeps the wind off your neck, I'd be good down into the 20's.

OH. Haha. Well, the scoot took the place of my car- I'm suppose to ride all season long, so that's kind of lost on me too. I thought we were talking about some bigger Rally that everybpdy knew about and I was forgetting or hadn't picked up on
Come to think of it, there is one- but it's in May, Lokky and I were talking about it the other day because we suspect it's on his graduation weekend and if so we need to make offerings to the scooter club gods to consider changing it.

Update for those who'd like to know:
I saw the doc yesterday, and I've healed enough that we don't need to worry about the pieces shifting just because I'm moving my hand around
SO
They let me go straight to the splint instead of putting another cast on!! This is good because my muscle and tendon/ligaments won't continue to atrophy and stiffen more than they already have, and I have been liberated to do such light activities as shower without help/plastic bags on my arm!!!
I have to be extremely careful, and be a VERY good girl about only taking the brace off in safe environment, and exercising. I declined to make an appointment with the therapist who made my split/brace/thing for me due to money being tight- she was not happy and made me promise if I could not manage to make a fist in a week that I would call back and come see her. So I have to try extra hard to make a fist! I've made a notable amount of progress since yesterday already, but we'll see if I can do it.
I'm still six weeks out from being able to drive again, though.

Your motivation to "make a fist": same muscles to pull the brake lever.LunaP wrote:Update for those who'd like to know:

Just keep in mind that it will be possible - even easy - to reinjure yourself for quite a while, even after you're judged fit to return to "regular activities". I managed to (re)injure myself a few months after neck surgery, apparently just by sleeping on it wrong, and it's set my recovery back substantially.LunaP wrote:The ortho kept mentioning the scooter, trying to emphasize that I shouldn't get on it... and I tried to explain to him that I can't because I cannot properly throttle or brake with a stiff/hurting wrist and two out-of-commission fingers. I'm not sure he listened to me- I guess he's used to complete idiots re-hurting themselves.

I won't stupidly or purposefully overdo it
I know it's easier than everybody initially thinks to re-injure themselves. I'm taking it slow, and using my pain as a cue- today I showered, organized some things, put away laundry, and I started to ache after that so I stopped. I'm not pushing, pulling, lifting anything heavy or doing anything that would otherwise put a lot of pressure on it- no need to stress the fracture itself. It's easy for me to use the rest of the hand and stick out my pinky (like I'm drinking tea!) if I think I need to. As long as I am careful careful not to jam or bump it I'm fine... which means doing most things at a deliberate pace and not rushing while I have the splint off.
But I made progress with the exercise I got today, I can close my hand more... so I think instead of making it like 'exercising' per say, maybe I should just use my hand (gingerly) like normal some each day.
