And guys like 2 of my regulars who rides chinese POS's because they have no licenses, come up to my store EVERY DAY and buy at least a 12pk of Busch or Bud.

Apparently they didn't catch that if your license got revoked for drug or booze charges, you can't drive anything with a motor, even if it doesn't require tags.

I think they all need registration, there should just be a 'moped' category registration that includes below 50cc. Some states have that as optional but not required, I think. They're smart.

Funny you say that about the DUI/DWI, a local guy just outside of town was arrested recently for driving his RIDE ON LAWNMOWER to a local convenience store while drunk! ..silly red necks!
(his driver's license was previously revoked for such charges)

I agree about the "moped" category... I think NY requires 50ccs and less be tagged/registered/titled, but a motorcycle license is not required. Idk about the laws regarding insurance and such for them though.

[rant] ...but I know of one lady in Glenville that better have great scooter insurance and a hefty life insurance plan the way she drives her stupid little Barney purple Chinese hack job around! I've almost hit her with my car several times because she doesn't stop for stop signs/lights, just shoots out into the middle of a busy (45mph) road in front of cars without ever slowing or looking! She doesn't use signals at all, and I think her brake lights are shot, because she slams to a crawl without notice and turns into another side street just as abruptly as she flew out of the previous one!
Why I think a moto license should be required for those things... too many stupid people riding around that shouldn't be, and will likely end up as mancakes! They make the rest of us law-abiding, safe-riding folks look bad, and make scooters seem super dangerous and impractical.
Although, most of the ritzy, snobby modern Vespa riders around Saratoga are just as bad, and have no clue about motorcycle safety. URRRGGGH. [/rant]

Sadly, natural selection will eventually take care of them, and in so doing, will further reinforce the idea that 2-wheelers are dangerous in the mind of the general public.

I've noticed that lawn mowers have been the ride of choice for many of the DUI crowd. Haven't seen many around here on scooters. Must be an urban thing. Around here, they just keep driving without a license. I can think of one particular individual just up the road who is on about his 5th DUI arrest. In fact, he got his last one on the day he was to show up for a hearing about the previous one.

LOL. Yeah, that one's hilarious. I saw it a long time ago.

Definitely NOT urban. 100% ethnically Red Neckerson. And I can say that because I'm one myself.

I remembered at the time that we questioned whether that was fake but I can tell you, there are such people around here.

Indeed there are. I've seen a few driving down the side of route 50 (between where I live, and Saratoga), which is either a 45mph, or 55mph "back country" 2 lane highway type road. Soooo dangerous.

I'm not convinced the police officer had to respond by spraying the driver with pepper spray. He looked quite harmless. Yes, he was going to start peeing. He was drunk. He wouldn't have been able to properly obey the police officer's demands. Sometimes I don't think American police officers are trained to gracefully work with non-violent but problematic people.
