Hi Everyone! I'm Kristy from San Diego. I just got my motorcycle learner's permit today and I'm getting my buddy tomorrow. I'm going to get lots of practice tooling around town and take the MSF class this summer.

Hi codemonkey/Kristy – welcome – lucky you, you get to ride in the warm weather – its cold here and others have to deal with even colder weather further north and east – warmer weather is just around the corner – Be sure to snap a picture of you and your new scoot.

Welcome! It was decided in some forum someplace that SD is the best city in the continental US for scootering thanks to the weather and abundance of dealers, etc. I've never scooted down there, but I'm sure you'll love it. And if you have any issues or questions, search the forum or post.

Yes, welcome to Modern Buddy and the scooter community! So, what color Buddy did you wind up with and did you get a 125 or 50?

Remember to take it easy at first. Try to practice away from traffic as much as you can. Those first few miles on a new bike are a statistical nightmare, so ride safely!

Welcome codemonkey (in IT perhaps?).

I was scared s***less when I first got my Buddy (also on a brand new permit). The first ride or two on actual roads were exhilerating and frightening.

Now it's mostly just great fun. You're going to have a blast.

Biggest advice: pay attention to the world around you, and take that MSF course first chance you get.

I'm going to get it a little later this morning. I'm getting a 125. After I get it home I'm going to take it to a parking lot to practice before I go out on real roads with it.
