MV stole it from us first! That was made by a ModernBuddy member, of course—SirLexelot.

In fact, he has the distinction of being the first LA-area Buddy owner.

I'm glad that got reposted or I may have never come across it!

I've scanned about half of the posts on this forum over the last couple of weeks, but I missed that one.

NICE JOB SirLexelot!

I just finished reading through the original thread when he posted the commercial, but I didn't see any follow up as to what the Genuine folks thought of it? I would have thought the webguy (I thought I read that he is on this forum) might even throw it on their website under the buddy section. Anyone know if anything developed? SirLexelot? (Are you still browsing here?)

SirLex hasn't logged in since February. :( Maybe too busy riding. You can probably PM him and ask what happened.

I do love the "Ride Happy" slogan. Do any other scooter/cycling groups have dibs on that phrase?

I used to be the "web guy" (and graphics person) for Genuine, and am still doing a few projects for them here and there. I just saw this for the first time today and think it's fantastic, and while the riding is a bit borderline at moments, I think that everyone at Genuine really likes it.

I am going to be helping Genuine do some web updates soon and hope to incorporate this video in some form. I am also going to post elsewhere on MB soliciting people's ideas for the website, quotes about Buddy ownership and photos of people with their scooters (especially those who have done anything to customize their bikes).

Dude, you just opened the biggest can of worms... :D
We SO love being asked for input & feedback and there are a lot of opinions on, well, everything around here.

I took the liberty of uploading the commercial to youtube for a couple of reasons.

1. Makes it easier to embed the video other places
2. The bandwidth burden is handled easily and free there

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxN0zKrHOPU

Based on pjchmiel comments that the Genuine gang likes the video, I think it's safe that I'm not stepping on anyones toes by uploading it.

Ah, you may want to PM SirLexalot and ask his permission since he actually created the video and has some claim to it as his intellectual property.

Good call Eric. I thought of that just after posting this last night, so I sent Alexey and Stacie a real email just to be safe that they were cool with it.

He sent me a reply early this AM:
"Hi Scott,

glad you liked the spec spot - we're happy to have it on YouTube! The music is copyrighted of course, but hopefully that won't be an issue."

....
So I guess there could be an issue with the music overlay technically speaking. I don't really know, so I'll remain blissfully ignorant for now.

Awesome; thanks for being conscientious about that. I work with illustrators, photographers and writers (and have had things I've done reproduced without permission) so I'm a bit of a stickler for at least asking permission. The music rights issue, well... I won't even go there. :)
