New Member, Buddy SI Owner in Pasadena

Post by PasadenaSue »

Hi -

I just joined the ranks of Buddy owners so this group is perfect to answer my questions about rewiring turn signals, etc. I went with the SI and it looks better in person then it does in pictures, IMO. I had a hard time deciding between the 2006 and 2007, but the price difference wasn't large enough to go for the less expensive option and upgrading things on my own. The larger headlight will take some getting used to though...

Anyway, I'm still learning about the Buddy so I'll be lurking for a while. I did get a compliment about the scooter on my first trip to the store, so that made me happy.

Regards -

Congrats on the Scoot! How does it feel? What accessories are you planning on getting? Make sure to post pics. Can't wait to get mine.

Have fun and ride safe :)

Welcome, get used to the compliments and smiles and waves. Evidently it looks like it's as much fun to ride as it really is. Pasadena will be a great community to scoot in and you've got hills near by.

(OK I am learning how this interface works so my apologies if this doesn't post in the correct place.)

The scoot is fine, the suspension seems a little stiff so the bumps are felt. Since it has a whopping 15 miles on it I am still breaking it in. I can't wait until I can open it up all the way and see how it really performs.

As for accessories, I bought a chrome front rack (nice) and want to get a windshield and rear rack. I'm waiting on the rear rack to see if anyone makes one that 's a bit larger. I am also looking at the S/X under seat case so I can carry groceries.

What I'd like to do to make the scoot more comfortable for me is to add heated grips and highway pegs. My left knee doesn't like to be bent for long periods of time, so some kind of foot peg that allows me to keep my leg straighter would help.

I'd like to set the scoot up for touring. I have a set of saddlebags that may work on it, I haven't checked them out yet.

That's enough to keep me busy for now. :)

Hey, Sue! My wife and I occasionally ride up to Pasadena from North Hollywood. The Buddy gets a lot of attention everywhere we go.

Did you buy from NoHo Scooters? Those guys are great!

There are some SX Appeal saddle bags which should work if those you have now don't. The tan ones would look pretty damn nice on a Series Italia. We've been talking for months about designing and making our own, but have more ideas than motivation or time to execute them.

When you say touring, are you planning on taking the Buddy out on the freeway?

Yes, I bought my Buddy from NoHo Scooters. Mike was great, treated me with respect, answered my million questions, and even dropped the scooter off for me since I had driven over and was eager to go riding. That's what I call service! I will be a loyal customer for them.

If the saddlebags I have don't work, the SX bags in tan do look sharp! I'd like to see if my current items work (I've been riding dual sport motorcycles for a few years and have assorted gear from that). As for touring, no I want to stay away from the freeway. I'm into slow, enjoy the scenery and stop at all the historical markers, kind of touring. That's why I wanted to get a scooter. It's faster then riding my bicycle but less intimidating to people than a motorcycle. And it's fun. :D

I'm looking forward to meeting people in the scooter community as I get more involved in this new endeavor. This forum is a great start! My list of mods is growing the more I read.

Sounded like you had some riding experience...
There's a rally in a couple of weeks; Saturday afternoon ride winds up with a BBQ at NoHo. Check it out:
