Modern Buddy

Changed my gear and engine oil yesterday (thank you mlstephens for your excellent post http://www.modernbuddy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=76&highlight=oil+change+stepbystep.

After I finished I gave some good luvin and easter gifts to my Buddy. The very first day I got it, about a year ago, my then 14yr old daughter took a 3mph spill and broke the headlight bezel. So I fixed that and added a basket, rear chrome rack, prima exhaust. I can't recommend the new pipe enough. About 5mph on the top end...not that I care but certainly more pickup and now you can hear it...a nice throaty putter but not too loud. Maybe I'll do some painting this summer. Any suggestions / tips on plastic?

these are carbed scooters right? When adding an aftermarket exhaust do you not need to rejet??

I'd be scared to scoot around GB. The drivers there scare me when I'm in a car.

NICE lookin' Buddy. The Prima looks quite good on it—sleek and chrome. I've yet to see/hear one in person.

Probably not when adding the Prima (designed & built just for the Buddy), but if you add another you'll probably want to ask your dealer/mechanic. To rejet or not rejet is a frequently debated topic on scoot forums, and I sure don't know enough to wade into those waters.

My dealer suggested it....cars both in front and behind can see them that way + possibly from side streets. So far I'm still alive

Question #1. You will probably NOT need to re-jet if you don't mess with the airbox.

Question #2. I used Krylon Fusion paint design specifically for plastics and about 4 bucks at WalMart. Good results and it's still lookin' good (except where I fell).

The Scooter is looking really nice. The pipe looks good on there.

As far as painting goes, I'll definitely co-sign on the Krylon. They current have a limit number of colors though. If you'd like a wider variety of colors first use a plastic primer (like the one pictured below). After you spray the primer on you can use any spray paint you want (make sure to put a couple layers of clear coat on afterwards)

~When painting TAKE YOUR TIME DO NOT RUSH! Seriously take your time. Make sure to let the parts dry thoroughly if you have to use more than one coat or before handling. DO NOT OVERSPRAY... More coats may be needed, you want a smooth, bubble free surface. Practice on a different surface to get the feel of the spray. Once again... HAVE PATIENCE.
