Advice on cream buddy appearance mods

Post by EAG19 »

Other than my trying to get a brown seat, floor mat, and grips from my local dealer, what do you guys suggest on the following:

I have a cream buddy and I like it to look really cute (yes, I'm a girlie girl) and european/vintage looking. I think I want the wicker basket in the front. Would that be too much with the cram topcase in the back? I'm also looking for a little extra storage area so that's why I thought of the topcase. I don't have a helmet so it would be for storage only. I think you guys are the experts so let me know if that's all too much and I should just stick to a rear rack, or no wicker basket and yes on the topcase. Can you tell I'm excited yet so indecisive?

I'm open to suggestions... THANKS!

As I mentioned in another post I am eager to see a cream bud with brown seat/grips/floor- I agree it will probably look really classy. No one seems to have done this simple mod though. I just wonder how the black interior will hold up with the brown and cream? If you make it happen please, please, please post. If it looks too good to resist, I will maybe post a trade for my black seat, grips etc.

You might think of the tan Prima bag mounted to the rear rack instead of the top-case. I think it would be a nice accent to the brown seat, etc.

I went with white walls and a burberry seat. It looks less modern and more classic. No wicker basket for me...too matronly but I am going to go with the brown bag.

As in the burberry seat cover? Where can I get the whitewall tires and the brown bag? Do you attach that to the rear rack? Sorry so many questions! AGh!

omg, i didn't even put the two together, but that's why i'm not thinking about a basket, it's too matronly :!: Once you start looking the part, it seems more important not to seem, that a way.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change a thing.

The whitewalls and bag (well, the SX Appeal brand version of the same bag) are both on sale now at Motorsport Scooters:
http://www.scooterwest.com/item/Buddy-B ... ories/298/

But you should try your dealer first, esp. for the tires as they'll need to put the tubes in and install them.

The bag attaches to the rear rack with straps and has a handle so you can take it off and carry it with you.

Eag, you definitely need to look into getting a helmet. I know this post is regarding accessories but you did note that you do not have one. If you are looking for something cute, HJC has a nice creme color helmet that I think complements the creme of the Buddy. I believe it is the CL-Max model. Helmets can be cute too, and is the ultimate accessory!
Other than that, how about some streamers for the handle bars :P

I think the cream w/ a burberry seat cover (if it's the plaid w/ the pink) deserves a pink interior (and other black bits), if you want to go girly. All the interior plastics cost about $60.

Make a Neopolitan Ice Cream Buddy - cream plastic panels, pink interior panels, brown seat and grips. And do get a helmet - make it cherry red.

Tee hee...I love the Neopolitan idea!

I've had my orange Buddy for just over a week now and I've already gotten a few cream panels to create...a Creamsicle!

Or "Creamcycle", for those of you who like really bad puns...

What's the difference between a plastic panel and an inside or interior panel? Oh, and where can you purchase these?

BTW, that neopolitan idea was pretty unique.

No one wears helmets around here unless you have a motorcycle. I don't take my scooter anywhere except the small streets in a 20 block radius which, because it's the beach, usually are at cruising speeds.

Anyway, can anyone tell mw where I could purchase these plastic panels you guys are talking about? I imagine these are the panels that go on the inside of the scooter where your feet are etc.? :P

Your dealer can order the panels for you from genuine. :) prices are pretty well set. Check on the web at assorted dealer sites.

I'm not going to lecture...but look into motorcycle safety info. It appears that it doesn't take much speed or distance from home to take the brain out of optimal working order if...

Here's one: GET A HELMET!! Okay? The ground doesn't care how fast you're going when you hit it. Curbs, pavement, poles, cars, and even other scooters are harder than your head.

Yes, that is my scooter.
Yes, I wear a helmet and a FIRSTGEAR armored jacket.
No, I'm not embarrassed to be seen riding it.
Yes, that is an NRA sticker on the fender.

"No one wears a helmet around here"

There are two kinds of riders. Those who have gone down and those who are going to go down.

I live at the opposite end of Florida from you (Pensacola) and even most of the Harely riders, esp those on vacation ride in shorts, flip flops and often no shirts. There are a lot of minor incidents with major or fatal injuries. I hate to be a downer but you are probably going to be severely injured (disabled) or killed in a minor accident with another vehicle not to mention potholes, loose dirt/gravel at intersections.

Hot ladies (meaning you) look cool taking off....well anything...helmets, jackets, etc.

Please get a helment. That's me and my Dad (lives in Stuart) in my avatar. My wife and I frequently ride to dinner and she doesn't like to wear the helmet but agrees to. If only I could get her to ride side saddle. Now that's hot IMHOP.

Have a nice day.

It's true, guys seem to find women riding scooters or motorcycles uh...attractive. That includes gearing up/putting your helmet and jacket on and taking them off. It's quite cute really, I think it includes some amount of respect mixed with the other emotions those guys go through.

This illustrates it...

Considering where you live and the type of riding you do, the wicker basket and cream topcase are perfect for you. Don't make scootering so complicated. You have to decide what it is you are looking for in your scooter: strictly a fashion statement or fun and functional. I tend to be the fun and functional person. Make your bike reflect who YOU want to be and not what you want to represent, unless that's what you're shooting for. I also like full face helmet and gear but I ride a LOT. I fear the ground but again, make the decision YOURS because you are the only one riding your Buddy!
