springs?

I have 11g sliders, jetted up with 95, prima exhaust. My take off is great. This past weekend I topped out at 70mph indicated.

My next step is the dr pulley variator and springs. I am doing all I can without going big bore or higher cc kit.

Based on that, here are my questions:

I am not to concerned with take off. I am small and can get what I can from the get go. I just feel I can get more from top end. It seemed like my bike really wanted it.

What size springs should I get? I have seen several posts talking about 1000 and 1500 clutch and contra. If a decision is made on the size, should I get both contra and clutch at the same time?

I am an impatient person by nature, therefore, when I make my order I will order the variator and the springs at the same time?

Or is the current set up I have with the eventual install of the dr pulley variator enough to get better top end without the springs?

I have asked several mechanics down here and I have heard sooooo many different opinions. One included up jetting after air box mod and adding a hydrogen gadget that he was building. Moreover, I was told not to take advice from "anyone on any forum. They are just trying to break your bike".

Needless to say, I'm still here asking.

Thanks guys

Because, of course, we all know about the reliability of home made hydrogen gadgets. Everyone has here has one! Which "Back to the Future" movie did that guy come from?

Based on what I've read here, I'm leaning toward the same set up and would be doing it all at the same time myself. Upgrade the variator, 11g sliders, new belt, 1000 contra and 1500 clutch springs all at the same time.

If you're not concerned with take off then leave the springs alone. That's pretty much what they're for. If you want faster, changing your CDI and finding a performance cam are a start. Next would be a different final drive gear. If you do the cam you'll also need stiffer valve springs to prevent the valves from floating at high RPM. To date, the only one with a decent cam that actually worked right is kaos.

The down side is, if you do all of the above you're going to sacrifice some take off. This of course brings us back to the CVT mods (variator, weights, spring, clutch) to get it back.

Damn, it's a tangled web we weave when we start to tune. Sure is fun though!! If I were you, I'd do the variator and weights first and just sit with it for awhile. Tuning should be done in stages so you can feel the difference in the bike and see what direction to go from there.
