A 400 Mile Weekend
Well, gang, I did it again. I took an overloaded Buddy over the mountains and down through the desert to Phoenix again this weekend. The Red Baron and I camped out at the Phoenix International Raceway and attended the NASCAR race there. I have the full write up and pictures (including pics of an overloaded scooter and some of the mountain roads) at my blog; www.skutergruven.blogspot.com

Way Out There and Back...
Nice trip, Keys... do they legally allow 125cc machines on the highways in Arizona? I know on the freeways in California, it has to be at least 150cc to be legal....

The Little Scooter That Could...
Hmmm... looks like I'll have to do a little research on my own state's regs. Unfortunately, due to my fender-bender on the 7th, I won't be looking for a scoot for some time now... at worst, another year (aka - next year's tax returns) before I'm on two wheels. Guess that will give me plenty of time to collect the gear I'll need. After the $500 deductible comes out of this year's returns, I should at least be able to get that Arai Ram II helmet I found at A&S... on sale for $200! Hopefully, it will still be there (fingers crossed). With that sitting on my desk, I'll at least have a constant reminder of my decision to uncage myself....
Sounds like you had a fun trip... shame you didn't stay for the rest of the action.

Keys you're definitely a believer in your old signature because you are definitely living your life! Those are some incredible views. I'm going to have to come check out AZ sometime. Glad you were able to make such a good trip. Wish you MANY more.

Thanks Corsair. It is my belief that you are just wasting your gift of life if you don't actually live it. It's true, I have virtually NOTHING to show for 52 years of life in terms of money, retirement, etc, but I DO have 52 years of excitement, some fear, some pain, many memories and experiences and a joy of living not enough of us experience. I've shod and broke horses, been a tool and machine designer, a disc-jockey, a newspaper columnist, a restauranteur, a combat-proven Marine, a martial artist, an ordained minister, a professional musician, a truck driver...well, you get the idea...I'm now looking into getting my private investigator license.

As for visiting Arizona, I'd be glad to welcome you and yours anytime. I can also vouch for the Phoenix Scarabs welcoming you should you wish to visit.

I think "Keys, Scooter PI" might make a fine tv show. Chasing down baddies on a red Buddy—awesome. Stakeouts may be a little awkward, though.Keys wrote:I'm now looking into getting my private investigator license.
