Scooters in Sturgis

I've always wondered how scooters would be received in Sturgis. I have a few friends that make that annual trip and have asked me to join them in 2010. Of course that's mostly HD territory so my Honda would already be an outsider. I asked my wife if she would like to make the trip and ride the Buddy (we're trailering all the bikes up there) and she's very open to that idea ... I think to keep an eye on me more than anything else. A friend, in response to my Sturgis scoot concern, sent me this 2009 Sturgis pic. I guess my concerns were unfounded.

Dude, what is the range of a 70cc motor with what looks like at least 2 extra gallons of fuel on the back?

Know ye not of the guy who rode from Louisiana to (almost) Sturgis this summer on a Honda Trail 70? Scroll down to see his kit.

Mind you, does a Trail count as a scootah? My CT90 is a clutchless shift but no way it feels like an auto-scoot. More like the most fun bike I've ever ridden!

Depends on what you are there for. If you want to really ride the hills DON"T go during the rally. The traffic is horrible. If you want to party and have fun go. Be prepared to take some ribbing.

Holy crap! I had no idea someone made the Sturgis trip all the way from Louisiana on that little bike. Thanks for the link. That's a long thread tied into that trip, but I intend to go back and read it all.
Yeah, I don't think this truly qualifies as a scoot, but it's close enough.

Yeah, that range has to be impressive. After checking out Siobhan's link, I found it's actually a 3 gal aux tank.
"
Bike has an 3 gallon aux tank,17 front sprocket,32 rear, 140cc big head lifan 140. 65 top end,52 cruise."
My bladder wouldn't hold up between fuel stops.

I was hoping to do a little of both. But since I'm going with friends on their trip and schedule, we'll definitely be there for the rally.

You mean the extra fuel tank? Or the dual airbags?
