In the mile high now

Well I got here to CO last Tuesday and got my scooter out once and seemed to do fine, a bit slow but I was riding 2 up so typical for me. I was wondering for all those riding out in the denver area if you have changed your jet size or left it stock?

Welcome!
I bought my Buddy here and it still has the factory jet (and that is with the Prima pipe). My shop, Sportique Scooters, feels that they come out of the factory a little rich in the first place, so coming to altitude puts them just about right.

It will be slower. At 5000 feet, engine power is down by around 30%. Welcome to Colorado.
Most vehicles will still run fine on sea level jetting, but you may see a performance boost by going to a leaner jet. However, you will still be slower than at sea level no matter how well you get the tune dialed in.

I was also told by the dealer here in Albuquerque that the stock jets were just fine after I put on my Prima, same thing, he said they come stock on the rich side; we aren’t the mile high city, but, we are very close, on average around five thousand feet.
It is surprising how much quicker my Buddy is at sea level than up at altitude

I've got stock settings on mine and haven't noticed any performance issues (though I haven't ridden my scoot anywhere else).
My husband and I have ridden halfway to Estes Park from Fort Collins. Mountain riding is just lovely!

You should readjust the air screw on your carburetor.

I got the scoot out today to ride to work and it was nice still slow. I've thought of getting the pipe but not ready to dish out the money for one yet.
Kmtscoot. I know nothing about adjusting the air screw-what would I do how todo it. I'm thinking maybe tomorrow or Saturday taking a cruise down to one of the scooter shops to see what they say and or charge to do stuff.

Welcome to the neighborhood, db.
If you find yourself west of Denver headed to Golden, drop in and introduce yourself. (the gold prospecting/metal detecting center on the corner of 8th and Washington) It is a scenic ride on 32nd Avenue.

Thanks. I live in littleton so I went to the one off broadway in englewood and got a free t-shirt as a welcome gift. Thanks Sportique. Really nice people and loads of stuff to look at. Then I hit it and cruised through red rocks, very nice. Cant wait for some spring time group rides or any now, I'll have to look if there is any going on.

Don't forget the best Mexican food in the state (can't believe they don't have a website), Casa Bonita!

Um.... that's not food. It's not even as good as Taco Bell. It's fun, but not delicious.
A favorite of mine is Alamos Verdes in Arvada. Now that's good Mexican!
I also love Jerusalem Restaurant near DU. Not Mexican, but oh so yummy Middle Eastern. The Vegetarian Combination is fantastic!
Oh yeah, and +1 to Sportique!

To the OP-
Most of the canyons heading out of denver/boulder are spectactular rides. Clear Creek, Golden Gate, Coal Creek, Eldorado Canyon, Bear Creek Canyon are all nice rides.
Traffic can be a little heavy on clear creek, and these are all summer rides- the canyons get HEAVILY sanded down in winter and you will file lots of ice patches in shadow on otherwise dry and clear roads.
Anybody ever done Mount Evans? You can there by Squaw Pass staying on back roads, and it seems like it would be an awesome ride. I'm game next year if others are.

Sweet. Ill look into those rides. I'm game next year when it warms up. Not cold this morning on the scoot.

What, you got something against Velveeta?

I used to eat at Alamos Verdes regularly, since I worked in the strip mall just south of there.
