Modern Buddy

I picked up my new Buddy 125 today at my favorite local scooter shop, Scoot Richmond.

Of course, it's snowing and there is about 4" on the ground with at least 10"expected, but I did manage to get in a quick, if terribly freezing cold, ride before the snow started.

I cannot express just how totally jazzed I am, knowing this beauty is sitting in my garage right now, fully paid for and belonging to ME!

Congrates, very nice scooter. Sad to see the weather you are getting today, but it will get better and then ride like the wind.

Congrats on the new Buddy. I know you've been ready to get one for a while now. I don't think I was ever that patient, lol.

I can completely empathize with you on the weather bit. I was supposed to pick up my new scooter as well yesterday, but there was an inch of snow on the ground when I left work yesterday. Riding it home was out, and no way I was going to risk a slippery metal ramp with a brand new bike! The dealer was appreciative of my situation, so I'll be picking it up on Monday instead. C'est la vie.

Be sure to get in as much practice as you can safely. If you feel comfortable enough on it, there's a monthly first Sunday ride that meets up at Crossroads at 10AM. No pressure on that one. Group riding is a lot different from solo or paired riding. On second thought, you might want to wait till February, lol. You could still stop by and say hello. No one would fault you for not going on the ride and staying in your comfort level.

Hey, I don't feel too bad about the weather here. We've got about a foot or more of snow in my yard, and for Richmond, VA, that's really something! I love snow, so I am ok with it.

I also don't have my M class endorsement yet, so I really can't go anywhere. A few more weeks, and I should be able to join everybody out there actually going places on the scoot!

Lostmycage, what kind of scoot are you getting? I plan to join Seven Hills club soon, and I am looking forward to meeting scooter folks in town, besides Chelsea and her shop guys. I don't know about the rides yet; I want to go (once I am licensed), but I'll be getting myself comfortable riding first. Richmond seems like a great scooter town!

That's the best way to play it. Get the endorsement and get comfortable before venturing out with a large group of others. Group riding can be a lot different... no one rides the same way.

I'm getting a Scarabeo 500... if I can ever get up to get it. It's already titled, inspected and gassed up... I've just got to go get it, lol.

Congrats on the new scoot. The same thing happened to me in April I bought my Blackjack and then it rained for 5 days. The best thing to remember is that good weather is always around the corner.

Gratz! Scoot Richmond is the best! They were great with my purchases... Study up for that motorcycle license. I got the manual from DMV and it was very helpful in the written portion. The driving portion was cake in the parking lot on a small scoot. Practice your slow figure 8's and maneuvers for getting around objects. Best of luck.. see you on the road!

a scooter can be great therapy,,, the hey i can get away from all that back home for a 30-45min scoot,,, it works wonders,,, before you know it you well be finding all kind of reasons to go to the store,,, and reasons to take the long way to the store... have fun and be safe...

The tangerine looks great with the lights reflecting in the paint. Very pretty bike. How tall are you? My wife is vertically challenged. I'd like to know how the bike feels to you and whether you feel fimly planted with both feet on the ground. Thanks.

I am just under 5"2. I can touchdown on one side firmly and since Buddy scoots are much lighter then motorcycles I trained on and there are no foot controls I have no problem with just putting down one foot. I feel I have good control of the bike

I thought you were about as tall as my wife. Tammy is 5" 2'. She has never ridden anything more than a bicycle. Plus she has fibromyalgia and restless legs syndrome. I think the Buddy would be great for her. I know it's a looonnnngggggggg ride, but I hope you are able to make it over to the Parkway as well as western NC. Maybe the Dragons Tail. Have fun and be careful.
