Howdy all,
Now that Wifey has moved back home, our two scoots get to co-mingle again. I thought I would post a pick to show you the side-by-side size comparisons between a Buddy 125 and Vespa 250GTSie:
You can't really see from this one pic, but the seat height is about the same, but the the Vespa has about another foot in length over the Buddy. Wifey says that the Vespa has a "fat ass" and hence refers to her ride as "Juicy."

Wow. Really is quite a difference seen side by side like that. Like Scooter and Scooter Jr.

Wifey has been ridding since high-school... XX years ago, and a Vespa has always been on her list. I've only been ridding since July, so a Buddy made much more sense for me as a first-time rider.

Personally, I'd take the Buddy over the tank.

Do you guys ride together?
My wife and I do all the time, we take them on vacations etc., we were always pretty equal in performance when she rode a People 150, then she got a GTS 250, just like your wife’s, Dragon Red, her performance increased tremendously that’s when I knew I needed a larger machine.
The Buddy, and People were just great around the city, when traffic was lower, but now days we have been traveling further and further on the open roads and the larger cruisers are better suited for the open the open road conditions, but, still light enough to get through city traffic just fine. Parking, and maneuverability is not as easy as the Buddy, but very similar to the People, just a little heavier.
Whenever I get on the Buddy these days I’m surprised at how tiny she is, she still surprises unsuspecting cagers on her peppiness, but, the comfort level is not anywhere like the GTS.
You should consider getting a larger scooter, and ride with your wife, discover new areas on the scooters. You guys live in a great area for scooters, everything is easily approachable with any scooter, bigger scooters will make SF, and Carmel seem much closer.

Wow! That's quite a size difference. I have one of each but they are parked on opposite sides of a car in the garage so I've never looked at them together. By the way, I love them both. The Vespa is great for cruising but just not tossable like the Buddy.

My Stella dwarfs my Buddy in similar fashion.

One of many reasons I prefer a small 125-150cc scooter for urban riding.

We've only done a few rides together. The GTS is actually just too dang big for her - she being only 5' 2". Once she's going, it's fine. But, when she has to stop, it's hard (even in boots) to get her feet flat on the ground. The GTS is just so wide.
When she drove my Buddy back from SF Scooter Center (I didn't have my licenses or any real experience yet) back here to Santa Clara... she loved the way my Buddy handled and the amount of control she had. She was almost ready to sell her GTS and get a Buddy!
Now that she has moved back home (a very long NSR story there) we hope to do more ridding together once the wet season is over. I just need to get off my butt and do the MSF class and be done with it.
