Eko Vehicles of Bangalore is about to start selling the Eko-Hybrid ET-120, a gasoline-electric hybrid with a top speed of 40mph but an estimated 280mpg, designed with help from the US company Emerging Technologies. It has a 70cc gas engine, but with the assist of the electric is supposed to provide the torque of a 120cc (hence the model number). The sticker price is the equivalent of $855, and the styling is... practical. It comes with a five-year warranty. The company's US web site (which contains some of the world's worst photoshopped product images) indicates no plans to export to the US.

Beautiful, it ain't. But if the engineering works, then the design may follow.

Add a couple of Ammo Cases as saddlebags and I'd buy it! This would be a good utility vehicle. It looks like the back part of the seat opens up to be a rack or something.

I'd take one. The priorities for that area of the world have been met. Looks definitely wasn't one of them. But some think the rattlers are ugly too. Looks simple and fun. I'd haul my cow on it.
