Buddy on Man vs. Food

Post by ericalm »

Buddy Pamplona spotted on the San Francisco episode of Man vs, Food on the Travel Channel.

Definitely stands out in a crowd of scooters!

Group ride… Rally ride? MB member maybe?

Recognize the street? It goes by pretty quick so I didn't recognize any of the scoots.

Love that show! I should probably stop emulating the eating habits, though.

I think when he's not eating for the show, Adam must be on a liquid diet and exercising 8 hours a day.

EDIT, from Wikipedia:
"Although described as "a bit on the husky side", to maintain his health while indulging for his show on The Travel Channel's Man v. Food (which he began hosting in 2008), Richman exercises twice a day while he's on the road.[1][3] When the schedule permits, he does not eat the day before a challenge and he tries to stay "crazy hydrated" by drinking lots of water or club soda and foregoing coffee or soft drinks.[4]"

The title of this thread gave me an insight into how much my son has matured and learned at the tender age of 14 1/2 years.
.
I was sitting looking at the topics menu and my son happened to look over and read a few topic titles, suddenly his blue eyes opened as wide as dinnerplates, blinked a few times as the tiny bit of color he naturally has in his face drained away for about 3 1/2 seconds and then a bright red flush of embarrased humiliation swept up his neck and over his face making his red hair seem pale and lifeless in comparison, he glanced at me with a look that clearly communicated his shock and (mis)understanding of what a post about *buddies on men* vs. food must be about coupled with the fact that his sweatpants clad *mother* was doing reading a website that would be discussing such a topic as she calmly sipped her Grape Crush through a straw.
.
This was just as shocking to me that he would understand what that topic title might mean.
.
Innocent childhood is so very fleeting!
.
This is as surprising as when he suddenly showed awareness of certain commercials and the products they advertise. Sigh.

I think at this point, they know more at 12 than I did at 18 and I was a pretty knowledgeable, not-so-innocent kid. Most of them may not be able to comprehend most of it, but they know a hell of a lot more.

Vic... normally I don't charge for this, but considering that this is the second keyboard in as many weeks to get ruined by unexpected soda expulsion, I think you owe me a keyboard. And a new soda.
Check out  Scoot Richmond's new site: My awesome local shop.

I'm sure he must do some exercise, but if you saw the episode where he did the race with Dhani Jones and two others, I'd say he probably TRIES to workout twice a day :P

Sorry about the keyboard there dude. :o). Umm. Finish your soda before reading the story below.

Kids these days definitely know more at a way younger age than I did.
.
I remember that had some minor issues as a teen that resulted in a lot of kidney infections so the doctor decided to put me on antibiotics in an effort to prevent me from getting an infection. He told my mom and I that I was going to be taking antibiotics prophylactically (sp?) until we got things straightened out. They explained that this meant I would be taking antibiotics to prevent me from getting another infection.
.
A few months later I was in for a physical with my family doctor and when I was asked what medications I use I told the nurse, "I am on prophylactics."
.
My mother turned several shades of red, the nurse stood there with her pen frozen over the chart and her mouth open for several minutes until my mom managed to explain what I was talking about.
.
To my everlasting humiliation, this little exchange happened when I was 16. Let's just say I was very sheltered in some areas of my life. I was married before I figured out why my father nearly had a stroke when my mother told him how things went at the doctor's office later that evening.

this happens to be on now. It was in the opening sequence, this was obviously a big scooter ride unless SF is even cooler than a remember. I saw the pamplona front and center! the iceing on the cake was a yellow Vespa like mine.
