NBR: Assistance is needed in SeaTac area

Burien Little Theatre is looking for someone with a classic looking scooter but with a four stroke, twist and go for their upcoming run of 'A mid Summer Nights Dream'; UPDATE: Bonus would be one with mod mirrors - targeting 50's era.

The Details:
The ask is that a classic looking scooter be available Feb 8th -Feb 14th each evening - and then each weekend until March 21st (shows are Fri, Sat evening, Sun matinee). The play is performed in a former school gymnasium - where riser seating is installed. The actress will ride the scoot from behind the seating around the side and pull up to park in front of the stage. Then back at the end of the show - so not much travel involved at all. The scooter may remain safely locked up at the theater during the whole run or may be brought home each evening or through the weekday periods, as long as it is still available during the show. The theater has a million dollar insurance policy and the contributor will receive free comps to the shows, and will be recognized via the programs, etc.

Why is this NBR? The Buddy is "classic looking" isn't it? either way it sounds interesting but I don't see the scooter connection to A Midsummer Night's Dream.

They asked a friend of mine who has a retro looking vespa with additional mirrors. (They were charmed by the mirrors.) He turned them down.

Good luck finding a T-n-G with stadium mirrors, there aren't that many! Not to mention does the actress have her endorsement?!

They should check with the local Fire Department too. Riding a motorized vehicle indoors is generally a no-no. Pesky exhaust fumes and all...

If you're not driving it on the streets, you don't need a moto endorsement.

They could probably get away with just doing a run-push-and-let-go (with sound effects) to get the scooter onto the stage, which would solve all of the issues related to the engine and transmission. It wouldn't even need a functioning motor, which could make it easier to source a vintage model. On the other hand, if they're looking for a riding-off-into-the-sunset moment when the scooter leaves at the end, that's a bit harder to pull off without actually firing it up.

I agree a scooter is not a toy or prop. They would be better off having someone with a licence who knows how to ride it (sort of like a stunt double) I wonder who gets sued when she crashes into the crowd?

I agree with the last few posts, objects in the wings, possible slippery floor, someone walking in front of the scooter, inexperienced rider, etc... sounds like a recipe for disaster. What about liability? Are they going to fully insure the scooter for the time that it is in their care? What about against damages incurred to or by the scooter? I say get a moped and make them pedal it.
