How-do all,
Just had to post that I took the 1st part of the MSF class last night, and passed the test - 48-50! Next week is the driving part of the test. There are two of us "Scoot people" in the class, so I may have to bring Tang to ride on - I believe they only have 1 scoot available, and I'm not really interested in learning the art of shifting an MC.
Woot!

When I took the MSF course, I took Little Bit (my tangerine 2009 Buddy) with me to ride on. I'm with you, I could learn to ride a 'motorcycle' and shift, but what value would I get out of that, since I don't shift on my scooter?
It was a really good experience--I had the teachers' (there were two instructors) critical eyes on my technique on my scooter, so I could get feedback that was valuable to me and my situation.
Another cool thing was the obstacles and veering. I learned (in a safe environment) how to correctly veer and what to expect from MY scooter, as well has having to run over about 8 2x4 boards (2 for each lap of the circuit). I didn't think I could do it on Little Bit, as he doesn't have the ground clearance the motorcycles have, but I learned that I could, so now I will be less likely to crash should I run across something like that in the street that I can't veer around. Also, it was valuable to learn how to power walk my scooter, turn in tight circles either way (figure eights), and find out how fast I can lay on the brakes and control the scooter.
I thought it was a great experience, and am thinking of going back for the advanced course this summer. Congrats to you for taking the course!
