So it was a beautiful day here in pgh, pa and I thought why don't I take my buddy out for its first real ride. The electric start wasn't working, so I kickstarted it and rode over to visit one of my buddys at work. I hang out for about half an hourand go back outside to leave, and my scootwr just won't start. After about fifteen minutes of trying to start this thing I decide to look under it, only to find the starter is about an inch and half away from where itwas supposed to be, and completly unattatched. This scooter had previously only been around the block two or three times and had less that three miles on it. I took one of the bolts out of the air filteer cover, and temporarily attatched the starter, and drove it straight to the dealership. Has anyone else had this issue? Should I worry about other quality issues? I bought two of these but haven't used the other one at all. (Its the wifes)
Anybody?

Re: starter falling off?
If it only had a few miles on it, then I would worry that they dealer didn't do a good job on the "dealer prep" (which you probably paid a premium for). Ask them to go back over it and make sure that all prep was done properly. It's odd that something like the starter would be lose, as I don't think the scooters come from the factory quite that dissassembled, but I would still think that the dealer is responsible for checking for things like that.negativepayne wrote:So it was a beautiful day here in pgh, pa and I thought why don't I take my buddy out for its first real ride. Re: starter falling off?
When I got it started I drove it right to the dealer, they were very apoligetic. As far as the dealer setup cost, I didn't pay any extra for that at least not officially, and I actually saved several hundred off retail cost. I did buy two scooters with cash at a very slow time of year. Apparently both of the bolts that hold the starter on had completly rattled loose.pdxrita wrote:negativepayne wrote:So it was a beautiful day here in pgh, pa and I thought why don't I take my buddy out for its first real ride. I think they'll get it fixed under warrenty pretty quick, I was a little bummed that my first real ride on my buddy was to the dealership for warrenty service.

Re: starter falling off?
I did dealer prep on hundreds of scooters and never had a loose starter, Genuine is typically good about everything pre installed being within specs. Yes they should have checked but I understand why they wouldn'tpdxrita wrote:negativepayne wrote:So it was a beautiful day here in pgh, pa and I thought why don't I take my buddy out for its first real ride.
