people keep messing with my mirrors

This is the second time that my right mirror has been F'ed with and now it just dangles around. Is there a way to fix it or is there a better mirror out there that isn't as fragile?

You don't keep it under a cover do you?

The Buddy takes an 8mm thread and the right side is reversed. You can find tons of mirrors out there that lockdown or even bar end mirrors to replace the stock ones.

1)loosen up the bolt thing on the mirror.
2)screw the mirror down as far is it goes
3) move the mirror back to the possition you want it to be in
4) tighten up the bolt thing on the mirror.

I got the impression that the OP was referring to the mirrors themselves being floppy (a common issue).

Olhogrider's got a fix for that.

it was parked at school. I followed the link that you posted and followed the instructions. cranked mirror. suck. Called the dealership and they said that it wasn't covered under warranty. suck again.

I use BLUE (not the red) Loctite and my mirrors never move, and to get them to move (like when my brother in law rode my scooter for a rally) you have to apply a good bit of force and I kind of felt it when the seal that the Loctite made loosened and gave in (the mirror did not break, just the Loctite let loose).

It might work to make them feel more secure and maybe people won't mess with them as much.

Of course you could maybe get an alarm or something and if they do try to mess with it scare them so bad the drop a load in their pants

1. Buy extra battery
2. Hook positive and negative terminals to each end of mirror.
3. Hide in the bushes and watch.

See if they touch it again.

Just kidding...well, half kidding.

You mentioned something about this happening at school. Is there dedicated MC parking at your school? Is is insanely crowded? Like almost touching handlebars with your neighbor crowded? I would try to park in less densely populated MC parking, or park away from the main walking area at school. Check out Xena Disc Locks with Alarms. If someone so much as twists your handlebar, the alarm will go off and the assailant will use their undies as a toilet on the spot.

I swapped the mirrors for the ones on my Yamaha Vino. They are much more difficult to adjust and so less likely to be tinkered with.

teardrop vino mirrors? where did you find them and how much? I'd like to go route. I'm my fourth set of buddy mirrors in a year.

DC voltage well not do anything far as a shock goes... AC on the other hand would light him up...

They're the mirrors that came with my Vino Classic. They look the same as the stock Buddy mirrors but are definately better made; no floppy mirror syndrome. Since the right side is counter threaded like the Buddy it made for an easy swap.

Bikemaster makes some nice teardrop mirrors for about 100 bucks; they also sell adapters to deal with the counter threading on the right side. I'm thinking of getting some myself because they're really sharp looking.

Yeah Oli came by right after his mirror got effed up so we could go riding. (Thanks MB!). What kind of person messes with another persons ride.... sheesh... Anyways Oli, I think I have some Loctite here. If not half a mile to get some. I have seen other posts about folx using it. Worth a try before buying more mirrors.
