I'm attempting to change my oil for the first time, keeping in mind I am not mechanically inclined, AT ALL!!! Am I getting in over my head?!? I'm looking for a step-by-step guide to help me through this.

Can I find one here?

Just make sure you get the new oil filter on there nice and tight or else it'll spin off while riding and your engine will be caput. If you're not very mechanically inclined, I would get a torque wrench to measure proper torque on the filter.

Is it recommended to check your oil filter for tightness afterwards? If so how often?

Thanks....

Changing the engine oil is a snap thanx to this tech post:

I always check to make sure the filter is still on tight the first few rides after an oil change. The last thing I want is that puppy spinning off.

A quick tip from a shadetree mechanic who has been there and snapped that:

When dealing with the drain plug on the right side of the scooter for the "thimble" oil screen, remember that lefty-loosey/righty-tighty is *reversed* due to the plug being upside down. To loosen, pull wrench towards rear tire. To tighten, hand screw in (always at first, to avoid cross threading) and then pull wrench towards front tire.
